Vivaldi 2.7: Bring more productivity to your day
-
Great release overall! Thanks.
Also, please relax the hardcoded max width of 260px for vertical tabs! It's really annoying on wide monitors these days... -
Thank you Vivaldi Team
since 1.8 -

@Catweazle It has a long history Picture-in-Picture
On television, this denomination makes more sense, but not in a browser, where a video appears as a popup on top of a text on a web page. I think to call the function for example pop out video, floating video or similar, may be more understandable to the user

Is there any confirmation on the freeze issue, apparently fixed last week (see below)? I've seen some chatter around that it's still happening, at least on Windows. Of course, I suppose that there could be multiple, related bugs having to do with Ctrl+F and freezes.
Regression: Freeze in Find in Page (VB-55475)

A nice release, however I wish those 2 major bugs (Windows) would have been fixed as well, as they are pretty significant:
a) .pdf opened in the background not being loaded (VB-51691) and
b) pinned tabs being lost after a browser re-launch when "Startup" is set to "Homepage/Start Page", (don't remember the VB), used to be working right until v2.6 which broke it. -
@npro
I can confirm the PDF issue. Very frustrating. -
@npro I reported the pinned tab issue as (VB-56101) Pinned Tabs not Restored on Restart. It has been confirmed.
-
@rseiler I just had a freeze after ctrl-f for searching content in a page, I'm still on 2.7 RC1 snapshot, but I don't think there were any changes other than version and icon color compared to 2.7 stable.

@iAN-CooG OK, good to know (and I'll assume you mean Windows). Yes, AFAIK RC1=final.

So after the update the twitch and youtube ceased to be working. Doesn't even show the feed, nor channel name, no chat, nothing, just a blank webpage with no working anything.
Don't even know where to look or how to report the problem, it just doesn't work for no apparent reason. -
@Afdch What is your OS?
-
@Pesala Win10 x64.
Additional info, it is not limited to twitch and YT, going through the other sites, I see some are broken, like some logos and/or texts/buttons are missing, UI elements aren't working as they should etc.
I'm haven't been following web development for a decade but that surely has something to do with dynamically loaded data I think.
Restarted the browser, cleared cookies and cache, rebooted the PC, all the usual sfuff. -
@Afdch I am watching a Twitch stream right now and watched YT all day, so must be something on your side, I use Windows 7 32bit.
Try disabling all your extensions and restart Vivaldi. Maybe one is interfering.
You can also try using a guest profile in Vivaldi. -
@iAN-CooG Removing the extensions helped. Now to see what has ruined it. Everything worked perfectly fine seconds before the update.

wahou!! no more "broken page" appearance between every page loading! way more usable now
-
Went from 2.5 to 2.7 because 2.6 broke the address bar the way I was used to it (2.7 seems to fix it), but 2.7 added a ton of bookmarks again, just like 2.6 did, don't tell me that's a bug again, every major update adds default bookmarks.
ModEdit: bad grammar**

Except that again… It's a bug that couldn't be fixed, so it's still a bug.
-
@potmeklecbohdan: well, I installed on my second PC and it did the same thing, which synchronized, thus I had to delete it AGAIN on my main PC...

For me, playing any youtube video is resulting in skyrocketing CPU usage and the browser basically freezing. Is there any fix to this?
I've tried clearing out cache and used the "Override software rendering list" in flags
Please help!
