What’s Vivaldi’s business model?

I already use patreon for other things so that would probably be easiest.
Some thoughts worth considering:
More people have PayPal than Patreon (that's a guess, but it's probably true). Also, Patreon requires recurring payments whereas PayPal has both recurring and one-off payments. It's probably best to offer both options (whether that be Patreon + Paypal, or just PayPal).Another option is buymeacoffee.com, where I believe both one-offs and recurring payments are possible.
Patreon, of course, has the added advantage of the possibility of showing stats about number of patrons, monthly earnings from them, etc.

To add to this: If you did go down the paypal route don't require people to make a paypal account.
I know in the past you used to be able to "skip" the paypal account creation step, but maybe that's changed.

You still can. However, it's usually a very inconspicuous link below every thing else on the PayPal page, with the text "Pay with credit card" or something like that. In my experience most people don't even see that link since it's basically hidden.

Well Vivaldi being the guys and gals they are would have no problem explaining all that in any Vivaldi page linking to the Paypal page...

Probably.

I agree with you.

Hi, thank you for Vivaldi Browser and its services.
I noted how your business model works. Thank you for this transparence. I have to tell you I use the Lilo search engine, a solidary-based search engine which distribute the revenues from my searches to social projects. If needed, I will not miss to use your search engine partners. Thank you again. -
I switched to Vivaldi after the latest release with Ads Blocking. So far so great And this article is very nice and useful.

Interesting article, thank you Christian.
I wonder however how the financial situation of Vivaldi looks at the moment. Is it already a profitable company or if not, then not by what margin? Do you disclose any information about this?
I find the path of using bookmark and searches partners a good way to earn revenue...but somehow I would be surprised if that actually covers the ongoing cost of investment that goes into a browser and company of your size.
Would be nice to have some feedback on it

@verbovet seconding this, I only ever shop 'zon using the "smile.amazon.com" address
-
What can I say? I have always loved you and always will.
-
That's why we use and love Vivaldi.
I think Vivaldi should accept donations or introduce a monthly subscription model (paid membership doesn't necessarily have extra features). These will help the team to develop more powerful Vivaldi products much easier.

Now I feel bad for using Google . From now I'm gonna start using ecosia

@wildchild85:
I use Ecosia when I don't use Google. Ecosia is based on so it's not the best but it plants trees and it supports Vivaldi. And when I have a precise technical research to do, I use the shortcut "g " for searching with google... -
Nice, appreciate the transparency. How about a button in the settings to restore or update your Startpage Bookmarks for those of us that deleted and not feel guilty?

What if we use !google on duckduckgo to search on google? I always use bing though and google is always there with the key "g" on vivaldi.
-
After reading this, i have switched search engine from google to bing.

I like this model very much. Working with Vivaldi give me a similar good feeling like when I changed my OS from Windows to Linux.
