      Is it broken again?

Whatsapp web has not worked properly for me in web panels for weeks, but there was a workaround.

Now, on 2.6.1566.44 (Mac OS), it seems that:

      • in web panel: the workaround with user agent switch between mobile / desktop does not work anymore
      • in normal page: whatsapp web does not work at all either

So pissed off by these user agent sniffing, by companies as big as Facebook / WhatsApp! โ˜น

        @Gwen-Dragon
On my side, it fails at your first step:

        • Open tab with https://web.whatsapp.com

--> result in a message saying that WhatsApp only work on Google Chrome 36+, and asking me to update Chrome.

        My config:

        • Vivaldi 2.6.1566.44 (Stable channel) (64 bits), build b104196d10e5b12a2690fe28e511909c2f4dcf4b
        • OS: Mac OS X Sierra 10.13.6 (17G5019)

        Edit:
It seems back to previous behaviour (ok but with the need of the workaround) after deleting the cookies related to WhatsApp...
Quite hard to know for most of the people which will continue to be unable to use WhatApp web until they know exatctly what to do manually!

Such trouble by Facebook blocking Vivaldi in WhatsApp Web ๐Ÿ˜ž

          Try this:

          • Delete cookies in vivaldi://settings/privacy/ for WhatsApp
          • Hit Home button in panel
          • In head of web panel select Show Desktop version
          • Hit Home button in panel
          • In head of web panel select Show Mobile version

Now you should see the page with the QR.

I am having the same trouble and this didn't help. I am on Windows version 2.6.

Yeah, from what I understood after the fix in 2.5, WhatsApp in the web panels was still a known issue. The fix was aimed at "normal" tabs.

So I assumed there was no need for a new bug report. But maybe I was wrong?
Does anybody with access to the bug tracker know if there is still an open ticket about WhatsApp Web inside the web panels?

It "can" work with a few workarounds, though... (switch from desktop to mobile. After a reload, it won't work again --> switch back to desktop, and then again to mobile. And so on...)

You don't need to do the long "show desktop version -> show mobile version" workaround.

                    First do this one-time setup:

                    1. Add web.whatsapp.com as a web panel.
                    2. Set the web panel to "Show desktop version".
                    3. Click 'Home' in the web panel.
                    4. WhatsApp now shows the "Please update chrome" page.

Then every time you see "Please update chrome", just:

                    1. Right-click the WhatsApp page.
                    2. Click "Reload".
Now Whatsapp Web should load normally.

This works for me in three different installations of Vivaldi (running 2.6 or 2.7).

I think it's a good thing to keep attention on this topic until it is really and properly solved, ie VB-33103 is fixed. (thanks @Gwen-Dragon by the way ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

@Guilimote I agree, there's only an annoyng workaround, the problem is not solved at all.

Whatsapp doesn't work for me again in latest snapshot (2.7.1609.4 64-bit). Neither Home or Reload buttons solve this. Restarting browser doesn't help. It doesn't work in both panel and in normal tab. I tried running Vivaldi with this parameter

                                --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/76.0.3809.87 Safari/537.36"

which should be latest UA for Chrome according to this website but it still won't load Whatsapp web. It always just displays message that Whatsapp works with Chrome version 49 and newer. ๐Ÿค”

                                  @Gwen-Dragon Oh, okay.

                                  But I'm confused either way.
It doesn't work in normal tab too when using command line parameter.
I tried user agent switcher extension with exactly same UA and it opened Whatsapp web without problem.
But my user agent was detected exactly the same on whatismybrowser.com website using both methods.
I'll just wait until tomorrow, maybe I'm missing something because I'm too tired or it's just some temporary glitch and it'll start working again. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm new to Vivaldi, and just encountered this problem. Yesterday, WhatsApp Web worked in a panel. After today's update (3.3.2022.45) it doesn't load. I just get the main WhatsApp page. I can load it in a tab, though.

Edit: After setting the panel to "Show Desktop Version" and hitting Home in the panel, all is working. I thought I had done this before posting, but apparently not.
