Collapse window controls into navigation bar area when vertical tabs are enabled
-
I'm not sure if this belongs here, but this section seemed the most appropriate.
When the tabs are on top, Vivaldi moves the window controls into the tab area to save vertical space, but with side tabs the full titlebar is always shown. What I propose is an option to save space here by moving the titlebar's controls into the navigation toolbar's space, placing them along the sides. It doesn't need to be the default, just present in the settings menu in some form. I'm able to do this in Firefox with a custom userChrome.css, but direct style editing of Vivaldi's UI is difficult and your modifications get overwritten with every update. This is actually the reason I switched from Vivaldi back to Firefox to begin with. It seems to really defeat the purpose of side tabs altogether when the top chrome uses the same amount of vertical space either way...
Vivaldi's UI vs customized Firefox with tab bar hidden manually (and Vivaldifox extension for colored address bar):

There is now an experimental feature to avoid this problem, at least with simple CSS modifications.
Go to: vivaldi://experiments to enable this feature in Settings, Appearance.

Oh, well that seems useful. I'll see if I can whip up a homemade solution with that. Thanks.

Alright I think I hit on a workable solution.
div#header { margin-bottom: -25px; z-index: 5; pointer-events: none; } div.toolbar-addressbar { padding-left: 50px; padding-right: 140px; } div.pagetitle { display: none; }
Seems like the titlebar can still pick up clicks with pointer-events: none, but this allows you to click "through" it to the navigation bar buttons. Looks pretty good, though this would still be nice to have as an option in the browser itself.

@FrobtheBuilder Hi, Thanks for your feature request.
This looks like a duplicate of https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/31878/combine-window-title-and-address-bar-when-tabs-are-on-the-side Please vote for that instead, thank you.
If you want to make a feature request, please use the search first to see if you can find similar requests.
As you've provided some modding code, I'll move this post to the modding forum.
