Well, this is a bit sad [Vale streaming-tester].

  • Oh rats. This site has been excellent for a longish time; https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html

    But no more 😭

Hi, page is moved to https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page

    Cheers, mib

  • @mib2berlin Ta. It does not have a H.264 test. IMO that was the main benefit of the now-degraded site.

Oh, looks like i confused myself - easily done. The old site said "H.264/MP4", from which i infer that in fact H.264 = MP4. If so, then coz the new site has "MPEG (.mp4)", which i similarly intuit to mean MPEG =.mp4, thus deductively H.264 = MPEG, & thus Test #1 is the one of interest to me.

All this arcane jargon is deeply mysterious & confusing to me. 😕

  • @Steffie
These video codecs, container are really confusing.
Simply h.264 is a compression standard and Mpeg-4 is the standard container include video and sound data, for example.
Confusing is you can have an avi file also compressed with h.264, it is also used for HDTV, Bluray and so forth.
In your case, if the first video play all other avi, mkv and what else h.264 compressed should work, too.

    Cheers, mib
