Location Bar Suggestion Bug?

  • Hello,

I am not actually sure if this is a bug or if it is working as intended. I have taken a video of what I am about to describe to better illustrate the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG2cktw6QK0&feature=youtu.be

The issue here is that when tying my domain I wanted to reach "https://www.humblebundle.com/monthly" it was autofilling simply "humblebundle.com/monthly". When seeing this suggestion I press Enter, this then brings me to a Google Search for the text that was typed instead of going to the domain.
This is fixed if I add "www." before the suggestion, but I feel like hitting Enter should go to the domain, hence the question if this is a bug. Thanks!

@MrMista Hi. Are you using Vivaldi 2.5 or a 2.6 Snapshot build?

In 2.6, I just bookmarked "https://www.humblebundle.com/monthly". When I typed "humble" into the address field, it expanded to "humblebundle.com/monthly"; I hit Enter and it loaded the web site.

The last 2.6 snapshot builds have included a few "Address Field" fixes:
[Regression] [Address Field] 2.5 Search Suggestions are no longer based on History (VB-53597) <- 1560.4 Snapshot
[Address Bar] Typed History saving full URL instead of search nickname + term combination (VB-46616) <- 1554.13 Snapshot

Also, if you go into the History manager, search for "humble" and clear those history items, does this "fix" the problem for you?

FYI, you can also assign a nickname to a bookmark and go to it by typing the nickname into the address field or into Quick Commands. This is very handy if you have several different urls bookmarked on a site.

  • Sorry I should have included my version that was a mistake. I was using: 2.5.1525.46
But I check for updates manually and 2.5.1525.48 cannot reproduce the issue. I apologize for opening this before checking the very latest version. I didn't realize it didn't alert for updates immediately.

That is a great tip for the nicknames on bookmarks. I have not used that! I only have search nicknames.
