ARM Package for SailfishOS
-
I wish the linux (arm) version was packed for SailfishOS (.rpm)
-
I have already written about it in in this post https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/25350/mobile-browser-version
-
@MattSolo45 I think this may be a slightly different request, as it seems to be talking about an rpm version, I presume that means the desktop version packed for mobile
-
RPM already exists, as long as it's an Intel-compatible processor. If you have an ARM-based device they only provide DEB packages.

@sgunhouse
@MattSolo45 has previously explained that SailfishOS is a linux based operating system for mobile and tablet developed by Jolla based on Maemo / Harmatan (Nokia / Intel). The linux core is based on open source code that is continued in the MER project. I (we) are interested in Vivaldi on mobiles that are ARM based. SailfishOS uses RPM as packing and not DEB. This is the reason for the request. As an add-on, I can add that SailfishOS has a strong communit group at Talk.Maemo.org and that SailfishOS is ported to a vast array of mobile phones. I hope this is something Vivaldi will consider. -
I want Vivaldi for Sailfish OS so bad.. being forced to run an Android copy of it is a pain and i would much prefer a native rpm.... please dev team ... make a arm rpm file
-
@bigc0127 You mean a mobile or a desktop port? Because porting the desktop will be hard - as is not meant for a mobile usage, but probably fine for tablets - while porting the mobile edition as [experimental] native Sailfish RPM app could be easier (maybe) with cooperation of Jolla Devs/Testers/Users. Also, the desktop version often has issues on touch inputs, so very unsure about seeing that soon (for sailfish).

it would be so much easier if different products had different names...
Android app is not Vivaldi, it's completely different so it requires own name, just like Fennec did, Fenix does and Quantum does for Mozilla -
@hadden89 then mobile
