Thumbnail view for bookmarks.
-
Hello.
I think Vivaldi lacks thumbnail view for bookmarks, it is especially useful when you have a lot of bookmarks from sites that are in the language that you don't understand.
Below is a screenshot of how it looks in Opera. All of the sites are in Chinese language and it is relatively easy to find the bookmark that you need by the picture while in Vivaldi either you have to switch bookmarks in order to check their thumbnails or you have to know Chinese to read the bookmark titles. Both of this options are very inconvenient for an end user.
I also think that there are many other cases where searching bookmarks by their thumbnail is faster and easier. -
@System32 You can add any bookmark folder you wish to view in thumbnail format, as a speed dial listed on the Speed Dial page.

@Ayespy said in Thumbnail view for bookmarks.:

I can, but speed dial does not have the sorting functionality(e.g. show only particular domain) I need, and, frankly speaking, I don't want all of my bookmarks from Korean and Chinese sites to hang on my speed dial because there are lots of them(over several hundreds).

Vivaldi already has thumbnails for bookmarks:

@stardepp That view is better than no thumbnails at all, but It'd be much better to have what @System32 suggested in Thumbnail view for bookmarks.:
Anyone else is interested in requesting this? Or did we get an extension for the job since the last post?
(Sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but I was going to request the same feature and duplicating would be worse, I think)

@delbruck As you can see from the first post, 13 other users are interested in this request. That is not a lot after four years, so look for another solution.
You can keep a lot of bookmarks (but not all) on the Speed Dial, and use the Tiny Thumbnail size. You can have several speed dials organised into languages and or categories. Speed Dial bookmarks can be rearranged with Drag and Drop.
Less frequently used bookmarks can remain on the Bookmarks Bar, and rarely used bookmarks can be accessed from the Bookmarks Menu.

@Pesala Thanks for answering, I was hoping that the request went unnoticed back in the day. It seems like a much better solution than using Speed Dial.
But thank you for explaining that alternative, I'll give it a try.
