How do I get Flash to work without having to edit the .desktop file after every update?

  • I know that you can set the path to the flash plugin in the desktop file using a flag, but is there no way to set this permanently so I don't have to do this every time?

  • What distro you use? Normaly flash works outofbox. Sure you have pepperflash installed?

  • Flash should work even if you don't do that…Like RocknRolf said, check if you have pepperflash installed and if you already have it, remove it and make sure every flash-related folder and files are removed and make a clean install. Just by installing it from the terminal you should see this in your plugin page (vivaldi://plugins):
    (...)
    Name: Shockwave Flash
    Description: Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
    Version: 18.0.0.204
    Location: /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so

  • @conki:

    Name: Shockwave Flash
    Description: Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
    Version: 18.0.0.204
    Location: /usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so

The current Shockwave Flash (PPAPI) version is 18.0.0.209
Please update pepperflashplugin-nonfree (deb) or chromium-pepper-flash (rpm)

    update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install --unverified
