Search not sync'ed?
-
@Komposten Please, after confirming, file a bug
-
@lamarca Will run some tests and then report if it doesn't work.
-
@lamarca Unfortunately only the search engines at
chrome://settings/searchEngines
are synced, but not the ones vivaldi uses atvivaldi://settings/search

Thank you everybody for responding!

Aha! Whether this should be labeled as a "bug" or not, it needs to be fixed, judging from the people's confusion here. Has this issue been reported? Should I submit a report?
-
@ryofurue I imagine it's probably known about already, but I don't suppose any harm will come if you report it again.
The dev team are always aiming to get more and more settings to be properly syncable, but that takes time.

Hi every one,
I just pinged Julien and he confirmed Search Engines are not Sync.
Cheers

Is there a workaround to getting the search engines into another profile/instance manually?
Importing (bookmarks and) settings doesn’t import the search engines, and there’s no obvious file in the profile folder that holds this information.
I’ve attempted installing a standalone Vivaldi instance over a manual copy of an existing instance having my preferred engines, and then syncing that, but I’ve ended up with the same default search engines (and triplicates in the bookmarks, some with the same nickname, which is impossible to do in the UI).

@Dantesoft You can use this mod.
-
@Dantesoft One way would be to add your search engines to bookmarks. Then copy the URLs when recreating them in the other instance.

This worked (I ignored the exception triggered on Paste).
