Browse with full color: Vivaldi browser enables Razer Chroma

Seriously? A third-party Chrome extension? Why does Vivaldi not have this itself in its options?
Honestly at the point now where updates just break sites, provide nothing of substance, all the interesting post-Opera promises are dead, and I might as well just use Chrome.
-
@lamarca: Indeed. Having a lot of fun!

@cheve11e_191: Thanks!

@gh0stzk: Thank you and welcome!

@para-noid: We are looking into this issue. It seems to be sync related. Basically a fresh install that is synced will introduce the included bookmarks into the mix. We are looking at ways to fix it. Sorry about that.
Cheers,
Jon. -
@jon
I don't have sync turned on, but I had the same issue. Although, only on the most recent stable build. -
Welcome to 2.5.
-
Maybe firstly focus on fixing the bugs, then "Chroma", which is probably used by 0.0001% of users..?
-
@zakius: Exactly.

I'm relatively new to Vivaldi, so bear with me.
• The instructions for enabling Razer Chroma begins with; "To unlock this dynamic browser immersion, simply head to Settings > Themes."
– In the Mac edition of Vivaldi, there are no "Settings," only Preferences. It took me about half an hour to sort that one out.• Next up; "Towards the bottom of the main Themes settings page, you can tick the box to “Enable Chroma” and pick which devices should be synced. The lights will now adapt to the color of the site you are browsing with Vivaldi."
– The only thing at the bottom of my Themes setting page is "Enable Hue."• "Vivaldi does this by picking a color based on the favicon of the site currently being viewed and applying it to the browser’s interface and Chroma devices. This is the case when “Accent Color from Active Page” is enabled (found under Settings > Themes > Edit Theme)."
– Check ✓Sooo, what should I do?

This integration is fully compatible with a PC running Windows.
I guess it's only available on Windows devices.
-
@npro Well, I really hope it has the marketing value that can help Vivaldi to flourish, because I am not a gamer and I'm not willing to buy these kinds of rubbish in the foreseeable future, so otherwise it just doesn't make sense to me.
-
@nekomajin: That is interesting information. That could mean there is another issue there. We will look into that.
Cheers,

Jon.Thank you. I don't mind the bookmarks. It's just I deleted them so long ago it took me by surprise.
-
@npro: yeah I tried that, i changed to vivaldi default theme and the color of the windows started changing, that's when the keyboard lights turned off when vivaldi is opened.
-
@hlehyaric indeed it's even specified, even tho admittedly only in the changelog

[New][Windows] Razer Chroma support -
@iAN-CooG No, it also says in "Game On", "This integration is fully compatible with a PC running Windows."
-
@Folgore101 right, I missed that.

I see a conflict of interest between developing software for gaming and reducing unnecessary power use.
Gamers spend hours online doing nothing useful for anyone. Typical games involve racing and shooting, both of which cultivate unhealthy mental habits.
Many people spend hours online every day, but they are working, learning, being creative, or being productive in other ways; not wasting their time in useless activities.
I don't doubt that gaming is a huge market, as is porn. They are of a similar nature — both of them corrupt the mind.
It is unfortunate that the brightest minds cannot find better ways to use technology than controlling their room lighting from a PC.
The Vivaldi Team has lost its way. Get back to implementing feature requests that your users actually asked for — I never saw one feature request for Philips Hue Integration or Razer Chroma Lighting in all the years that I have been closely following the Feature Requests forums in all of their various incarnations.

That's a optimistic view but you are forgetting that most just post selfies or what they are eating on FB, I don't think there are many that are actually using their PCs for working and being actually creative, when they are not gaming or wasting internet bandwidth with other trivial matters
Other than that, I am with you that such silly features are just aimed at a very scarce audience, prolly can be counted in the number of few hundreds? dunno.
