YouTube and Vessel Support
-
I really like Vivaldi by now. I' pleased to switch to it as my main Browser. But there is one thing, which stands in the way: There is no H.264 and MSE support in vessel! I want 100% Support for Video Platforms like YouTube and Vessel. when this is done, i'll switch in less than an minute YouTube: http://youtube.com/html5 Vessel (sub only) http://vessel.com Attachments: ,

And what do you mean with proper YouTube support? Because here I'm playing every video on 1080p.
And WebM and x264 are two separate things.

By default Vivaldi has HTML5 in youtube enabled (at least mine). You can check it if you push the right button of the mouse on a video.
The "video formats" of HTML5 are h264 on one side and VP8 (or the newsest VP9) on the other.
WebM is the container (like .mkv or .avi) of VP8 or VP9 for the video stream and Ogg or Opus for the audio stream
H264 is another codec for the video stream. Youtube uses this codec in ".mp4" or ".flv" container with ".AAC" codec for audio stream.Summarizing. Vivaldi supports youtube in HTML5 with the "webm codec" (free) but not with the "h.264 codec" (must pay a license)

Good clarification anecaslu. Thanks.
Anyway, the lack of h.264 codec is only a down for other video services, like Vimeo, YouTube offers most, if not all, videos with WebM codec.

They should considering add support for h264 even Maxthon and few other small browser have it.

The matter is High on priority list, they are just evaluating the different solutions, something that is not trivial as appears given the various pros and cons of each solution, and given the difference between the architectures supported by Vivaldi.
