"To help us get 2.5 out the door as soon as possible, please focus your feedback on serious regressions since 2.4 stable"
This won't likely help "get 2.5 out the door as soon as possible" but the tab tiling performance issues I don't think can be classified as anything else but a serious regression since 2.4.
-
@mtaki14 I would certainly like to see this fixed, but I think these issues are actually a regression since 2.3.
-
@mtaki14 yep, together with this Severe performance drop of tabs moved in a second window which does not exist in 2.4 and is probably caused by the same bug.
-
@LonM Those problems don't exist in my 2.4
-
One issue which is kind of serious, I'm not sure if it's a show-stopper, would be that downloads made in a guest profile don't show up in the vivaldi UI (VB-52248).
-
@npro I see. I reported the performance bug in 2.4, maybe it's gotten worse / affects more people since then.
Which is somewhat worrying, as if there is a trend there, then the next engine bump might make it worse.
-
@Gwen-Dragon If both won't be fixed, it's going to scare some new users who (except for us fans) usually don't have the patience to stick with something that does not work out of the box, because they are used to simpler, yes, but stable browsers and because it shows problems/liabilities that are guaranteed to happen and stay unfixed in the future as well, classifying the browser and the company as B-league and never giving it again another chance. First impression is what always matters. I will certainly stop talking for some time until both are fixed about how great Vivaldi is to potential users, because the moment they will try that feature and realise it's broken I will have to come up with some excuse and I don't want to look like an idiot.
-
The efficiency of the panels on the start page is very much inefficient.
-
Still no progress on fixing the address field/search field dropdown usability problems.
There were some fixes at the 1st 2.5.1497.4 SS after 2.4 stable was released
with those bugs in, but after that everything went back to a mess (admittedly, random, by magic sometime curor down makes the dropdown appear, del instead of shift del can delete an history entry, but not always) and
here we go again, new RC with the bugs still in. -
Still a lot of crashes when you try to open PDF links, e.g. this page:

-
@helsten2 confirmed here, dead bird page after opening 2 pdfs there
-
[New] Enable Razer Chroma support
Might want to specify that this is only available for Windows.
-
The first time I run RC 1 the browser crashed, then when I restarted it I lost the current tabs (it started with a blank page). As far as I can tell this never happened with previous snapshots.
I recovered my tabs from history just fine.
-
@helsten2 not confirmed, opened all the pdfs flawlessly, in foreground, in background, in new window.
-
@npro It's totally random, but I can replicate after few tries. I'm reporting it just to send 4 *.dmp files that I got for the 4 tries where it crashed both the page with the dl links and the new tab with the pdf.
Summary: Crash on opening pdf on some site
Key: VB-52809 -
-
@npro I have no AV running on this PC.
-
@iAN-CooG k, same here (no AV).

If you are on Win, report the issue. After getting the Team e-mail with the (VB-xxxxxx), attach the dump file and send it
