It would be nice to have a different Vivaldi icons show in the taskbar if its open in incognito mode or also a different icon for the new guest mode. Its really painful to have tons of windows open for Vivaldi and not being able to visually tell the difference between them in the task bar as its gets crowded. I constantly do testing or dev so I like to switch between modes on different Vivaldi instances.

When a Vivaldi window is in private mode or guest mode, it needs a unique program icon to help distinguish it in the taskbar.

It isn't JUST the icons, it is also the Profile NAME that has the following problem:

SYNCING two profiles, on the same PC, ALSO clones the name of the profile. Seems to me that BOTH the icon AND the name of that profile should stay unique as specified or changed by the user. (NOTE: the name of the profile can be changed here: chrome://settings/people ).

Why?? Often, users might want a TEMPLATE to start with, clone it, BREAK the clone, and then proceed to customize the new profile, which also might mean creating / using a separate Vivaldi profile.

To really make profiles useful, we need to both know and be able to control what is synced and what is not. In addition, without necessarily logging out, turn syncing on and off, on-demand.

Until we get a bit more control of profiles AND how syncing is integrated, profiles will have limited value. I might use it on occasion, but I can't use it for many of the things I'd like to. Simply by changing the icon in the Windows tray is required, so I can tell which profile I am in... some would be synced, and some not.

I'd also like to sync to a location other than Vivaldi. Each profile if it is full, could be a gigabyte or more, so asking Vivaldi to host all that for EACH profile, for each person is a bit much. However, managing that volume of data is the value proposition of profiles and sync.

-- Often breaking Vivaldi, by abusing it and over-stressing its resources.

While it is still not implemented to have different icons per profile, could you pls upvote https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/42397/profile-icons-on-taskbar/7?_=1600855390938
,so it gets upvotes for suggested Feature Requests. 🙂 Thank you
