Steganography treasure hunt

OK. This game is of a nerdy level we haven't had here since we were writing everything in various forms of code and cypher.
The artist known as MASTER BOOT RECORD has a quest for you.
Decrypt the clues and find the treasure.

@Dr-Flay Do you know MBR? Do you/we trust him?

Very good question I guess.
He has been around for a while and I'm not aware of any naughtyness yet.
To play the game you could set up a very minimal VM, or run from a Linux live disk.
That would also be suitably nerdy on your parthttps://www.last.fm/music/MASTER+BOOT+RECORD

A little helper
MBR IP track: the numbers say
_"Welcome back again where it all began
Open are the ports. Services all started.
Knock at every door and grab the missing strings
Put them in a row and crack the code to winScanning close the files may reveal some things
Data you can't hear. Data you can't see.
Scattered are the clues all around the disk
Some are in plain sight some you need to thinkCheck your mail for messages, log on IRC
Feeling old already? Oh I bet you did.
You will need some tools, look around for hacks
Talk with all the daemons hiding in the darkNow don't be afraid. It's a simple game.
All you need are memories buried in your brain
For it's in the past where you need to start
Surfing like a pirate. I wish you good luck."_ -
