Tab crashes on big page
-
Hello.
2.3.1440.61 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Windows 10 enterprise, 24gb ramVivaldi tab crashes on this particular url: https://github.com/AdoptOpenJDK/openjdk-docker/pull/124/files
- open url
- github loads part of content (big scrolllbar) then freezes, all other tabs work ok
- whole browser freezes after 10-15 seconds
- whole browser unfreezes after another 20-30 seconds, tab still frozen and unscrollable
- scroll becomes tiny, still can't scroll anything in it or interact with elements
- after some minutes i get dead bird
Tried in private mode, tried clean profile, tried on 32bit version - all the same.
Chrome on the same pc opens page okay-ish (few hiccups for a second or two but then page is scrollable and interactive).
Process explorer shows that tab subprocess grows working set steadily and eating some cpu and when it hits approx 2.5gb it crashes to dead bird.
Chrome process at the same time grows to approx 185mb and then works fine. -
I can't reproduce here on win7 32 bit, Vivaldi 2.4.1488.29
The page takes some seconds to load fully, as each of the files get diff-ed individually while scrolling. After reaching the bottom of page, shift-esc and the tab shows taking 108,224kb (!) of RAM, but apart that, scrolling up and down works smoothly for me, and can close the tab regularly. No particular hiccups. -
@kincajou Loaded here in about 2 seconds. Scrolls essentially without pause.

This is weird. My home pc is unaffected, loads page without problems as well. Wonder what is wrong with my work pc.
-
@kincajou I'd suggest to refresh your profile, it often helps in case of weird crashes especially after several updates.
-
I tried on blank profile, it didn't help.
-
This is most weird but crash dumps are not generated. Even on standalone latest version with clean profile, even with vivaldi://crash, no files are created in corresponding profile crashpad/reports folder.
vivaldi://crashes says "Crash reporting is disabled." - if it is of any indication.
