Vivaldi 2.4 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1488.26

@Steffie I just asked that you test with keyboard shortcuts as an alternative to take the mouse code out of the equation. I did a quick test on your web sites and "Page Up" and "Page Down" seemed to work fine (and identically) with mouse gestures, assigning keyboard shortcuts, and with the physical PgUp/PgDn keys that don't need to be assigned. Granted, I'm also using macOS, not Linux... and I typically use scroll gestures, so I also can't really say whether the Page Up/Down behaviour has changed either.
-
@xyzzy Thanks for testing. FYI, i have some pics which IMO nicely show the problem. Btw, page zoom, font size, Stylus css etc identical for both V's.
Snapshot on LHS, Stable on RHS.
-
A representative page, top of article... both V's agree:
-
MG "Page Down" performed on both. Stable has beautifully executed the command, giving me the correct new first line without any omission or repetition. Snapshot... didn't:
-
Aha, interesting discovery. Stable this time was scrolled via standard kb key, & now exactly mimics the poor Snapshot behaviour. Ergo, i intuit that Snapshot's MG code is improperly mapped just to the kb key, instead of to however Stable does it "properly":

@Steffie In my case, when I page down, using any method, the last line of the previous page becomes the first line of the current page, so that feels "just right" to me, and that behaviour is also consistent with Chrome. Page up also gets me right back to where I was.
-
@xyzzy The behaviour you describe is how my Stable behaves, but not my Snapshot as i described & illustrated. Stable's behaviour also
feels "just right" to me
You rightly pointed out that we're on different OS's, so that might be a factor. It's not convenient for me atm to close my SS & test it with a virgin profile, so in a few ticks i shall fire up one of my VMs & do that test therein. Shall report back my findings soonish...
-
@Steffie Or you could just click on the Profile Switcher icon, add a new user, and voilà.

Oh sheepdip, you're right, never thought of that [duh]. OMZ that will be fab for running special tests. Blush.
Shall report back my findings soonish...
Well, my brand new V-SS installation in one of my Manjaro VMs [Manjaro is also my real OS] misbehaves identically to my earlier description & pictures. Interesting! Given you're on Mac & this problem does not arise for you, it is either a Linux-SS-only bug, or possibly also Windoze [for which i shall momentarily don my protective goggles & clothing then fire up my Win10 VM (unless of course via this new-fangled Profile thingie i can also load alternative OS's - ha)].
Update: Well well well.
- Windoze Stable = Linux Stable = Mac Stable = GOOD MG Page Down/Up.
- Windoze SS = Linux SS != Mac SS = BAD MG Page Down/Up.
Why have no Windozers already pointed out this SS bug? Maybe they have & i missed it.
