Could you cancel the warning after download a exe?
-
That's too annoying.
-
well.I found when I canceled the checkbox “notify on completed downloads” ,the warning disapeared.
-
@Gwen-Dragon
I found it not show in english,even if the checkbox checked.
-
Certain file types cause that warning, it's a chrome/ium thing, that can't be configured, unless you hack the list of file type extensions inside the browser resources. I've made a python script to do that, so I can download prg, exe, js and py files without that annoyance.

@Gwen-Dragon if I try downloading this exe installer for example
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/#download
I get the warning "This type of file could harm your" blablablaaa. -
@Gwen-Dragon well, no idea why it doesn't for you, but as you can see by yourself in the other forum thread I linked above, it's an annoyance for many people on windows, since a long time, that forced me to find an hack to solve it.
-
@Gwen-Dragon it not show when you browser display in english, I don't know why
-
@Gwen-Dragon I think you can see it now..........
because they fix the "Bug" -
I could not find the answer in this thread, so how to disable this warning?
-
@Gwen-Dragon
OMG, so this isn't a matter of simply changing some setting? But the question remains why I don't get to see this warning in Chrome and Opera? In Edge (based on Chromium) I do get a warning.

@RasheedHolland No, it is not so easy.
On which URL with which Vivaldi do you get such warning?
I get it every time I want to download an EXE file, doesn't matter what site, and doesn't matter which Vivaldi version I'm using. This problem has always been there, and has always been an annoyance.
-
@Gwen-Dragon
Yes, I get it on that page, isn't it weird, how come you don't get it? I use Win 8.1, with Vivaldi 2.4.1488.36, 64 bit. I also don't get it in an old Chrome version, and in Opera it gives me the save as dialog box, but no warning.
-
@Gwen-Dragon the vivaldi installer is signed so probably the warning is skipped in that case.
Try downloading this Commodore 64 .prg file from my dropbox, for some reason also .prg extension is considered harmful by Chrome devs (go figure why)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ygu0zq4f6qlc7uy/DOSSIERDEMO.fix.prg?dl=0
or this executable (source is http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=12036)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3hm4ah9b0j3s3fs/pno0001.exe?dl=0To remove the warning, I ran my ftyped python script to allow the extensions I want.
ftyped * -a exe
ftyped * -a prg
restart Vivaldi, done. -

I do not get a warning for your exe file.
In both my win7 32 bit PCs I always get it unless I forcedly whitelist it. And it even makes sense, as an exe should always ring some bells on windows systems, what I find weird it's the prg and other extensions which are not even direct executables for windows. Luckily I have my workaround for those, only needs to be reapplied every time the "User Data\FileTypePolicies##\download_file_types.pb" gets updated.

Will this problem ever be fixed by Vivaldi, it's seriously annoying.
-
BTW, why is this issue marked as Resolved?
-
@RasheedHolland most probably because who did it don't care that it's an issue for many.

Seriously, this is a ridiculous problem that should have been fixed years ago. I don't seem to have this problem with Chrome, so how can it be related to Chromium? I believe the problem must be fixed in Vivaldi.

I reported now in bug tracker for a investigation to change the behaviour:
VB-55512 Whitelist download of some file types
VB-55511 Remember choice of download confirmation (Keep or Skip) for futureOK thanks. And I get this with any .exe file, no matter if it's signed or not. Surely, the Vivaldi team should be able to fix this, no matter if it's a Chromium feature or not?

Seriously, will this ever be fixed? You should not get to see a warning everytime you download a .EXE file. We already got AV that should take care of malware, and this warning doesn't make any sense. Is there already a bug report for this issue?
