I can finally retire this gist from 2 years back.
Oh and… first post. What do I win? Also, am I allowed to play this game?
-
@ruario: first

Funny that I literally just posted in another thread about admins accessing user profiles and bam! New snapshot with multiple profiles per user.
-
Question: will playing around with multiple profiles in this snapshot mess up sync with stable Vivaldi?

[New] Support managing people and guest profiles (VB-48767)
aw booo. Now I'm stuck with the ugly profile icons cause my "fix" doesn't work anymore. It only shows the custom image in the manager, but the toolbar icon shows the default ugly clip art.
[New] Allow double-click to rename tab stack (VB-49437)
Nice.

YEP - this needs to go away. There appears to be no way to remove it? User profiles are neat to have but I don't need this extra icon there.
-
I don't need multiple profiles, so for now I'll disable it in vivaldi://experiments/ but that should go in settings.
-
@Pathduck Hopefully as we get more toolbar customisation, like how we can remove the home button.
My concern was more with the clip-art style image itself, but yours is a valid concern as well.
Hide the menu item, as long as there's some other way to interact with profiles - seems like a good potential use of quick command parameters.

I tested it and works nicely. -
These are some great new features.
I really like the ability to search page selection in background.
I imagine the guest profile will be useful for quick troubleshooting as well. Particularly when an extension, such as an ad-blocker results in issues on a particular website. I think it could be handy to have an option to add to the context menu to 'reload page using a guest profile'.
-
And damnit, no matter if I uncheked user profile management in experiments, it gets re-enabled restarting Vivaldi.
-
Relax guys, I'm sure the icon and feature activation will all be part of the tuning up before it goes stable.
-
@mossman I surely hope so, there are other settings that are not respected at restart, Alt for main menu comes to mind.
-
Another question: will it be possible to copy from one profile to another? At the moment the most I'm likely to do is split my existing stuff into work and personal versions. Would be best to clone the current profile and just edit the bookmarks and speed dial a bit. However the only option I see looks like it will create a completely fresh profile - which would mean spending time setting everything up again.
On that subject; yet another question: I could see how to select a name and icon etc. for a new profile, but not how to name and assign an icon to the existing one.

The hell is enabled by Vivaldi? Oh.
Not the hell, but I'm wondering how I can beautify this Icon with a picture? For Instance with my profile picture from Vivaldi Forum. Tried drag'n'drop, but nothing ...

@mossman Would make sense to copy/clone w/ replace from an existing profile.
