How to improve "Add a Bookmark" ??
-
You could try using the bookmark panel. If you use that you can use a tree structure to locate a folder, or search for one, before adding a new bookmark.

I have a million folders
Really?! Try typing the first letter of a folder to cycle through all folders beginning with that letter.

@Pesala "A million" .... well a lot. Your suggestion is great. Never knew that - works well. thanks.
-
@LonM Thanks for that. Is there anyway I can add a new bookmark through the bookmark panel? I have tried copying and pasting, and dragging and dropping from the address bar, both without success.
Thanks ! -
@vincej1 Drag and drop from the URL padlock icon to the Bookmarks Panel works fine and has done for as long as I can recall.

@Pesala Very weird. Ok - so I have the bookmarks panel open, When I grab the paddle lock icon on the address bar, the bookmarks panel slams shut. It does the same if you just grab the address itself.
What am I doing wrong ? Thanks !

@vincej1 Have you enabled "Floating Panels" and do you have "Auto-Close Inactive Panel" checked?
-
@xyzzy Thanks for helping out. Ok - so I have floating panels enabled. I think you intended to say disable Auto-Close inactive panel. That was previously enabled, hence it would auto-shut.
Now, I grab the padlock icon, and drag it over an open folder. I drop it. It does nothing.
-
@xyzzy Ok - I disabled floating panels, and bingo, it works nicely. Thanks !

@vincej1 Sorry, I definitely should have phrased this differently! (I was trying to hint at what was causing the problem.) Very glad to hear that this is working for you now!

Hi, i was about to create a new topic but then found the issue is talked about here. Vince seems to have 'solved' it by disabling floating panels, but i would actually like to keep using floating panels (i was one of the people that suggested the feature!).
Problem is that when using floating panels, dragging and dropping a site into bookmarks stops working.
A bug or missing feature? The plus sign is shown when hovering above the panel, but nothing happens when releasing it. Also the blue line that normally shows where it'll go does not appear.
-
@mdnjou It's a confirmed bug: VB-48889. Drag-and-drop to floating panels used to work but is currently broken due to a bug in Chromium that still has not been fixed yet.
