Mute Tabs While Audio Isn't Playing
-
The ability to mute tabs is very useful, but I find that there's one pretty big inconvenience with this feature. I mostly use the mute option so that I can turn off annoying notification noises for things like Facebook messenger. Right now Vivaldi only shows the button to mute a tab when that tab is currently playing audio, meaning that if a site only plays audio at very short and unpredictable bursts (like a chat notifications), it can be very difficult to switch to Vivaldi and mute the tab before the button disappears.
It would be very helpful if I could right-click on a tab and mute it at any time, so that I could pre-emptively mute a window if I know it's going to be making noise later.

Your headline made me think of that character in Mystery Men who was only invisible when no one was looking. But when I read your description, I understood. I would like this ability, too.

Having said that, if you are annoyed by sound from sites you often visit, you may want to mute audio by default for those sites in "Site settings". (Click on the icon on the leftmost corner of the address box.)

and they must add smaller speaker icon and mute tab not only one site.

It's possible to reach the mute option via Quick Commands even in tabs that (currently) don't play audio.
However, I just tested it and found that it does not actually mute the tab if I use it on a tab when it's not playing audio (Mute -> Start audio -> Audio is not muted). They should at the very least fix that. Adding a more visible way of muting a "silent" tab is probably also a good idea.

Thanks for sharing all these great inputs. This request is actually a duplicate of this one: Allow Mute Tab from Context Menu Whether they Play Sound or Not
Please vote for it instead. For that reason I'm closing this request and moving it to duplicates.
Thanks in advance for your understanding. -
