Exporting Notes
-
I've searched around, and there were two threads talking about exporting notes from Vivaldi. One using a python script. Sadly, it does not help my problem.
My feature request is, and to reinforce those other threads, a notes export feature, to csv, xml, or some other database-friendly archive. I need to export it, so other programs can properly read the file, since my current notes is around 68MB. This is slowing down my right click on Vivaldi, making it slightly difficult to find the stuff I need.

The notes file is already json, so it should be easily readable by other programs if they add support for Vivaldi notes format.
I'm not sure what converting it to csv or xml would achieve that is better than json.
In any case, its not worth duplicating the request (I assume its the one you mentioned already, with the python script)

@LonM I think, more on the fact so we can export it to a database or something. Like, each folder being a tag, or in a format that we can use without the data being all jumbled up, or difficult to interpret, when we use a JSON viewer.

@DrJester it all depends on what you mean by "jumbled up". A database format would (to me, anyway) seem more jumbled than json. Perhaps a zip file with all the notes structured as-is with sub folders and each file being a markdown text file.
In any case, it would probably be better to make requests for specific formats on the original thread, that way the forum doesn't end up jumbled.

I don't think we need another thread for this. There is also one for Notes in a Tab, which includes import/export in the comments. It currently has more votes than the one linked to above.
As LonM said, it is better to vote for and comment on the existing threads, unless the request is something unique.
Re: the 68 Mbyte notes file, that may be down to adding screenshots to notes. In Settings, Panel, disable "Fetch Screenshot for New Notes" and delete thumbnails for existing notes unless you need them. My Notes file is 64 Kbytes.
