Avoiding Google
-
I wish to prevent Google from tracking me. I think Google is evil. I am wondering about two options listed under Privacy in the Settings: Google Phishing and Malware Protection, and Using a Google DNS to Help Resolve Navigation Errors. How information about me does Google get from having these options checked? There are alternatives ways to get phishing and malware protection and resolve navigation errors. How do I implement them in Vivaldi?

Assuming Google Phishing and Malware Protection is the same as Google Safe Browsing:
It is sent your IP (unavoidable in network communication, unless you use a VPN) and parts of a hash made from the URL you are trying to go to. They never get the actual URL, nor the entire hash made from it.You can read one of Vivaldi's developers insight on this here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/177280
As for Google DNS, I can't help you there since I don't know how it works.

How do you implement what in Vivaldi? If you already know what you want to use in future, you should already know how to implement it. I don't think there should be any difference between Vivaldi and other Chromium browsers. When in doubt just google(!!!) it. And in case you want additional help from the Vivaldi community, you will have to provide more information.

Changing DNS is not done through Vivaldi (or any other browser) it is a function of the OS. Usually somewhere in Network Settings.
I use Quad9 for my DNS with Open DNS as a backup DNS Server and have not had an issue.
Some folks also like the Open DNS service and/or theCloudfare DNS Service. Simply a matter of personal preference.
You must do this for both Ethernet connections and WiFi connections and can also configure your router so all traffic goes through your preferred DNS
(Also I disable all google related options mentioned above in all browsers.) -

I had to LOL at that statement. The person is trying to avoid Google.
