A small update from yesterday – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1401.7
-
The Print (Preview) is again not working in the latest SS 1401.7 and 1400.4 on certain sites . It was fixed for me in SS 1386.4. I reported this already for SS 1332.4.
It still works for some of the earlier problem sites reported (i.e. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010S9N6OO) but not for others (i.e. https://www.ebay.com/itm/391970438731).
When I try to print certain pages like
https://www.ebay.com/itm/391970438731 in the latest few snapshots, the Print Preview window opens but then it's stuck at the "Loading Preview" animation. I tried the following:-
Opened the same website in Private Window with all Extensions disabled (no change)
-
Using Right-Mouse-Click -> Print or CTRL+P makes no difference
-
Print works fine both in Chrome and Edge

This bug has resurfaced again. Bookmark Bar folders fail to open.
Restarting the browser fixes it.
-
@AXK Unable to confirm here. Both fullscreen and Chromeless UI are restored on a restart whether done in the usual way or by typing vivaldi://restart in the URL field.
I use a dual monitor system with a maximised window on both monitors, but also applies to restarting Vivaldi from a single window on my primary monitor.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit build 17763.194 • Snapshot 2.3.1401.7 (64-bit)

This version suddenly exit fullscreen mode and stays in windowed mode until browser restart and sometimes not even restart can't fix it. Full clean uninstall of previous version and reinstalled this one. Oh and blog + mail service had today issues to connect to them.
-
[Regression] Settings window is only partly visible on some resolutions (VB-47388) is not fixed for me, or only partly. The preferencies window is still not centered on the screen.
-
Thank you for fixing the bookmark panel, as I use it a lot. What I like about the snapshots is that hey keep up with the Chromium releases. Only other browsers that do this are Chrome and Opera, and Opera is incompatible with YouTube TV,, and slow. Neither is a problem with Vivaldi. Nice job!

This update seems to fix a long-standing (I think since the very beginning) issue that I had - the Settings window opening on my primary monitor.
I'm on Linux Mint Cinnamon, and I have my primary monitor on the right and my secondary monitor on the left. The settings window would always open on the left (secondary) monitor, instead of on the primary monitor. This issue seems to happen for a lot of programs on Linux (games in particular always want to open on the leftmost monitor).
However, a new bug seems to have been introduced. If I have the browser window fullscreen, then minimize the window, then unminimize, the window will not return to fullscreen. Instead the window takes up the fullscreen, but it not maximized (I notice this because the maximize icon is different, and because my tabs do not reach the top of the screen).
It appears the only way to fix this is to drag the window away from the top of my screen, and then hit the maximize icon again.

I can confirm it and is the same issue i said above (the maximize one and i think is related with the new Hide UI function added with 2.3)

OK, as a certifiable dimwit, i'll bite. Has anyone deduced the "right" way to use the new Settings option for tab-stacks in the preceding Snapshot?
Prior to the recent two Snapshots, these were my relevant enabled settings:
For several months my default was "Open Tabs in Current Tab Stack", but i grew tired of that & recently deselected it.
Now, i have enabled the new option, "As Tab Stack with Related Tab", then gone about my morning news, current affairs & Linux browsing of my regular sites in my usual manner*... & have observed NO apparent change at all in the way my multiple spawned/child tabs have arranged themselves. Certainly exactly none of them self-stacked; i still needed to do that manually as usual.
*From parent-site1 [eg, The Guardian] i peruse the home-page & open multiple child pages in the background via wheel-click. With ps1 now "read" i manually stack all its kids via right-click "Stack Tabs by Host". Next i peruse ps2 & repeat the procedure, thence ps3 etc. Now i'm ready to read all my multiple stacked child-tabs. As stated above, the way all this proceeded today appears afaics completely identical to yesterday, when i still used the older Snapshot.

@Steffie Don't feel bad. I can't figure it out, either.
-
I wonder if there are so many people who uses tab stack ...
Is there some statistic? -
@steffie: Yes, you see no effect because there is a collision of settings because of a flawed design - if "Open Tabs in Current Tab Stack" option is OFF, then the new setting "New Tab Position -> As Tab Stack with Related Tab" has indeed no effect.
The new setting should be responsible only for creating a new tab stack (and moved where the existing option is placed), while the opening in the already existing stack should be controlled by the setting existing so far. I have reported VB-47461 for it.
-
@burbuja: With more features around tab stacks coming - making them easier to use and when they deliver more benefits - more people will be using them.
-
It is still impossible to select text in facebooks chat messages. Is it known and reported?
Googles voice search neither works. -
If I minimize it and maximize it it never becomes maximized again, maximize button is disabled.
-
@burbuja I only know that I have five stacks right now. I normally set them and forget them. I don't move a lot of tabs in and out of stacks. Each stack is made of tabs I use multiple times every day, multiple tabs all of the same subject or category.
-
@burbuja I enthusiastically have used TS ever since TP1 [or otherwise as soon as we got them after TP1; my memory dims]. Whilst it has been historically larger, atm my default arrangement is:
- Pinned tab-stack of 3 tabs [my Tech parent tabs from which i spawn multiple unpinned child tabs, which i subsequently stack til i've finished needing them]
- Pinned tab-stack of 3 tabs [my News parent tabs from which i spawn multiple unpinned child tabs, which i subsequently stack til i've finished needing them]
- Unpinned highly variable quantity & stack-status of assorted independent tabs, as i go about my general browsing for research & interest.
-
Regression: Cannot delete text in the address field.
Do you see this on your Vivaldi installation?
- Visit some website, say, http://www.google.com .
- Click on the address field. -> The URL text is automatically selected.
- Hit the "delete" key.
The URL isn't deleted. The text cursor is moved to the top of the line and the text is deselected. That's all.
- Click at the end of the URL text.
- Hit the "delete" key. -> The last character is deleted! Yey!
- Keep deleting all the characters.
When the text cursor reaches the top of the address line, the entire URL text re-appears!

Press F11 twice to work around it for now.
