A small update from yesterday – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1401.7

@Gregor said in A small update from yesterday – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1401.7:
It's 2 days long. Introduced in the latest bigger update.
So, even less reason to demand that it be fixed at once or else. You do know that the Vivaldi Team is now on holiday. I suspect we won't see any more Snapshots for at least a week, but you never know. This is obviously not a critical bug like this one:
- [Regression] Crash and bookmarks lost after Copy&Paste of bookmark folder VB-47352
The other not fully maximised window bug, which is not related to minimising windows, happens on restart or first run still occurs sometimes, but is better than when it first appeared with a Windows 10 update.
30 times a day
That would take 30 seconds or 1 minute at the most.
Can I express positive emotions?
Yes, of course, but behaving like a brat is not going to win you any friends who might be inclined to look for better workarounds to outstanding bugs and issues.

Fix this maximization! Every time window is minimized, when activated is not maximized. I won't stand it any day longer!
I don't find it that breaking and even if is annoying, there are workarounds for it like dragging the windows then maximizing it like usually or pressing F11 twice to bring the browser in a full screen mode then returning it to normal state.
Like is already said Vivaldi team is in holiday too like most us us is too, so either have patience, either move on stable branch or earlier snap version. Or the most drastic measure? leave to another browser, but trust me you will not find any other as better as Vivaldi. -
Thanks, but I already found better workaround - installed previous snapshot.
-
@saudiqbal
confirmed. and it's fairly annoying, IMHO. -
@ryofurue: workaround: select the url and start typing something. it'll replace the selected text

Vivaldi 2.3.1401.7 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit)videos on both the link you provided and https://www.maxdome.de/ work for me but I'm on win7 32bit and nVidia GT 710 card.
-
@mib2berlin Both play here.
-
-
@mib2berlin Well for brevity i didn't mention it before, but in fact it took me a long time to get cnet to play, as i progressively tuned my uMatrix filters to it. Cnet has a lousy number of things going on behind the scenes for that site to work - yuck!

My addblocker Malwarebytes
Since when Malwarebytes is an ad blocker?
block Cnet and Maxdome videos as advertisment
Seems it's not its business as probably it simply blocks everything based on site url only, while a proper ad blocker with updated lists blocks only the actual bad content.

@iAN-CooG Imo the best one is Nano.
-
@ayespy: This particular bug was introduced with the latest build. I can confirm that it didn't happen in the previous build. You are probably referring to another bug. (Windows 10 here)
-
Hmm. Long time without snapshot. That means... M3! Haha.

@jacekn How about the holidays.
-
@jacekn is normal that we had no new Snap. Vivaldi Team was and probably still is in Holiday, a well deserved one. Probably in 1 week or so we will get a new build.

[regression?] an old issue reappered, here: PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN, don't move PDF files' pages.
do this:- load the URL
- press PAGE DOWN, nothing will happen
Mod Edit: Fixed broken link

@Diotima You can try it the other way around, in this blogpost there are download links, select the version (32 or 64bit) you like, download it and start the installation.
The installation program will notice that Vivaldi already is installed and will offer you an update button in the lower right corner.
