Vivaldi doesn't display some web site content
-
I encounter this fairly frequently, which leads me to believe that there may be a setting in Vivaldi that I should change. Notice the difference in the two screen shots I've attached. The one with the picture is from Firefox, and the other one is the same page as displayed by Vivaldi
Mod Edit: Cropped images and uploaded them to the forum.

@kentraco The images are not displaying. Try uploading them to the forum using the up-to-cloud icon on the toolbar.

@kentraco I put Imgur image links in the post, but apparently they didn't show up. Here they are:

@kentraco The images on the website show up just fine here.

@Pesala Interesting. I've found no settings on my Vivaldi that seem to apply to the problem, but the fact that your browser displays the content properly sure points to an issue with my version. It's been in place for quite a while, with all updates duly installed.

@kentraco The image is hosted on another website:
https://cdn.website.thryv.com/6ab784bb1efc48fea9b3c966ada1bb1b/dms3rep/multi/mobile/5719edf.jpg
I wonder if Settings, Privacy, Block Third-Party Cookies might have something to do with the problem. That setting is disabled for me.
-
@kentraco In looking at the source code, the image at issue is retrieved by the web page's scripting as:
https://cdn.website.thryv.com/6ab784bb1efc48fea9b3c966ada1bb1b/dms3rep/multi/5719edf.jpg
Can you navigate directly to that URL in Vivaldi and pull up the image? If it doesn't appear, check to make sure you've not perhaps switched off the image/animation toggle at the bottom right of your Vivaldi display on the status bar, in the little box with the two mountain peaks. If the toggle is set to "Load Images: Always", perhaps something is blocking Vivaldi from accessing the site cdn.website.thryv.com itself (possibly a https cert issue?). -
@Pesala It was checked, and I unchecked it. But that change made no difference in how the site appears in my browser.
-
@Blackbird Yes, navigating directly to the link you posted brings up the image with no problem.
What's especially irritating about this issue is that most sites I visit display just fine. I guess the only fix is to switch to Firefox when I encounter a site that appears to have been poorly designed; i. e., with unusual blank spaces.
-
@Blackbird Another glitch that's common to the sites that don't display fully is the listing of tabs as indicated on this screen shot: https://imgur.com/hCz1RQQ

@kentraco Looks like a cache issue (or content-blocking extension). Try performing these actions, one after another and check if any of it solves the issue for you:
- Force reload the page and all of its contents including scripts, styles and images (by default: press
[CTRL]
+[SHIFT]
+[R]
or[CTRL]
+[F5]
); - Open the page in Private Window (by default: press
[CTRL]
+[SHIFT]
+[N]
to launch a new Private Window or select Menu > File > New Private Window). If the issue is gone in Private Window, then go to step 4. - Disable all extensions (if this resolves your issue, then try enabling them one by one to check which one is causing the trouble);
- Clear browsing data and restart the browser if necessary;
- Refresh your profile;
- Try another instance of Vivaldi to check if the issue occurs there too - preferably the latest Snapshot (you can download it from here). Don't update your current Vivaldi! Install new instance as "standalone", so that it doesn't interfere with your current installation. You can easily get rid of it later by removing the folder where it was installed.
- Force reload the page and all of its contents including scripts, styles and images (by default: press

@pafflick There were a few extensions - none of which was of any importance. Removing them did solve the problem.
Thank you for your assistance.

@kentraco knowing exactly which extension you removed could help others with the same problem in the future.
