[New] Search box on Speed Dial (VB-23505)
ewwwwww. Nice to have the option to turn that off, thanks.
yeah, ewww. Took me a minute to realise that we can only turn this off in search, not in speed dial settings

yes, please
Otherwise great changelog.
Almost feels like O12.x -
@luetage yeah, for me it's so redundant, especially if the search field next to address bar is active, so I've immediately disabled it, but I imagine that it can be useful is someone have configured Vivaldi to NOT search in the address bar and not activate the search field either. More customization is welcome in any case.

"Extension toggle" in settings should be renamed to something like "allow moving to the toggle". It still confuse me on what it does
Context menu sometimes is locked up, probably if you try to drag an extension on the toggle.
An additional option to have all extensions of the same color (or probably a mod will appear XD) will be niceThanks for the update
-
@luetage: Oh! There it is, thank you!

Search Engine in Start Page always resets to the default.
Like the search field in the Address Bar, It should remember the last used search engine, at least for the current session. Reported as a bug:
(VB-46278) Speed Dial Search Field Forgets its Last Used Search Engine
-
@ian-coog I agree that with the current implementation, it might seem a bit redundant, but if it would be a "separate" search field and I could assign three different default search engines to the address bar, the search field on the address bar and the search field on the Start Page, that would be awesome!

I can confirm DRM video Widevine working fine (out-of-box) on OpenMandriva and Mageia.
-
@angrypenguin: Forgot. Thanks a lot @ruario good job
-
@hadden89 It's still 2 different things. The extension toggle, that can be enabled in settings, will toggle all extensions. If you turn that one off, you can hide buttons, which will be toggled with the other toggle that appears after hiding an extension icon. However, you can't pull extensions in and out of this, you have to right click and show/hide.
I think I'll still use the modification over this for the time being. I like to show permanently, toggle, hide permanently all at once. Nevertheless, it's a step in the right direction. The hidden extensions in the dropdown have been suboptimal, to put it mildly.
-
P.S. Oh and our Widevine problems on Linux are fixed.
Hmm, I thought this would solve the bug of not being able to play a fullscreen video on indavideo.hu, but I guess I'll have to report it as a separate bug.
Reported as VB-46270: indavideo.hu videos can't be put on fullscreen on linux

umm, but how am I supposed to move around these buttons? I mean: what's the point of releasing another half (well, not even that) baked feature? yeah, snapshot are pretty much nightlies but still I don't think you should merge feature branches on a daily basis, instead you should do it only when feature seems to be complete and needs testing and polishing
-
@zakius That's not what this feature is about, it's about enabling/disabling toolbar buttons. And we always had the ability to move buttons/elements with custom modifications. Vivaldi has been the most customisable browser out there right from its release. That's what really matters.
-
Nice updates! Thank you!

I don't think you quite understand what "nightlies" are. They are supposed to be for merging branches as they are done, to reveal any issues or to experiment with them.
The only time you wouldn't merge a branch is if there was a risk of data loss through a feature being incomplete, or if a particular feature is useless without its dependencies not being ready yet. For example, mail is in a workable state but its not good enough to reveal to the snapshot users just yet.

I'd love a filter input box on speed dial, I have a folder with some stuff "for later", it's very long, and I know a specific thing I'd like to see now - i can currently search via address bar everywhere, go to bookmarks and search there, still ignoring other folders. So searching (hiding filtered out results) only in current speed dial folder would be a thing!
Global search there is just not for me, but thanks for improvements. Many more thanks for option to hide it
-
@luetage True. It was more a generic feedback, as I'm testing this new behaviour on the test snapshot. And yeah, never liked the dropdown (especially as I have panel on right). Thanks to let me know that
you can't pull extensions in and out of this, you have to right click and show/hide
. The function still need some work - as you actually can't officially hide the buttons (without mods) and the naming is slightly misleading - but I guess and hope is going in the right way ^^, -
Still no customizable mouse chording. Oh well, maybe next release.

@ruario said Configurable address toolbar and finer grained control on muting...
Thanks for that Vivaldi Team! I'm still waiting for a tab separator in the tab bar.
Also, when is the android version ready for general availability?mf

Really good additions. Personally, I might not use the search bar on speed dial. BUT, it seems to be a great place to also have QC.
