Configurable address toolbar and finer grained control on muting – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1369.6

@burbuja said in Configurable address toolbar and finer grained control on muting – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1369.6:
we can search in address bar, in search bar, to have a search possibility in speed dial is really not necessary
An user could decide to NOT enable search on address bar and NOT show the search field, so that speed dial search would be the only search field for him.
It's all about configurability, and I'm all ok with it. -
A message from our friends Microsoft: Vivaldi is not displayed as an option in the default apps settings in Windows, thus it is not possible to set it as a default browser if one wishes so. Windows 10, 64bit, 1803. Vivaldi 64bit.

@kocho Is the message public? if so, could you provide a link, please?
-
@luetage: nope, that was a sarcastic reference to a similar blog post years ago (A message to our friends or something) Ask mr. von Tetzchner

@gwen-dragon: it's for all users, not stand-alone, and it has always been this way. Maybe this is related to Windows version, I don't know, but I know what I see

@kocho That is odd, I have Vivaldi Stable and Vivaldi Snapshot but it only shows Vivaldi Stable (with the old logo, LOL) and it doesn't show the new Opera which I also have installed as standalone (although haven't used it in 2 or 3 years)...
As you can probably tell, I'm using Windows default settings here. (Windows 10 ver. 1803, x64)

I only have two registered Vivaldi in win10 1803.
One is stable, I guess (without icon and path @pafflick lol) while the other is the main snapshot.
The strange part is I had also registered other versions too (legacy stable, latest snapshot and probably some more). But aren't listed. I fear windows tend to "clean" the list during major updates -
@gwen-dragon As I said, I'm using the Windows "defaults" here and I do not care enough about this issue to investigate it any further. I have a very particular
paranoiaworkflow that depends on not setting my main browser as the default. Unless I'll be able to configure the browser so that the URLs from other applications are opened in Private Windows by default, I'm not going to set my main browser as the systemdefault
.PS. I know, I probably abused the word » d e f a u l t « here, so I tried to at least use a different text formatting/styling each time, to make it more bearable for the reader. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Super. Maybe one day in the far future the address bar will be as customizable as it is in Firefox. Okay, that's tongue-in-cheek, but, while I use Firefox rarely, it is definitely the gold standard in configuring buttons.

@ayespy: Hi. Sometimes certain fixes don't get mentioned in changelogs as I've seen reports on that happening before. I usually check to see if the scrollbar issues have been fixed. One is, but haven't seen the other issue addressed. Unless they're tied together. Thanks.
