Gmail not working with third party cookies disabled

  • Gmail still not working with third party cookies disabled, this should have been fixed first.

  • Still same problem in Vivaldi.2.2.1386.4.x64

    Waiting for VB-46021 fix

a internal tester told that blocking Third Party content causes this.

  • Gmail still not working with third party cookies disabled.

  • Confirm. My mistake. I forgot check other extensions, I do not have any ad-blocker, but problematic extension is "No Coin".
Solution1: Uninstall extension No Coin and restart browser.
Solution2: Remove problematic Service Worker cookie (see scenario few posts above), gmail launched, now click on No Coin extension, select White list permanently, click greenbox White list and restart browser.
I choose Solution1 because this extension is not updated since February 2018.
    Thank you for help!

  • I do use Ghostery. If I run into issues again, I'll try disabling it for gmail.

  • Gmail still broken with third party cookies disabled and still does not launch maximized all the time.

Gmail is working fine here with, or without, third-party cookies blocked. Try clearing your cookies.

Off-topic posts were moved from the Snapshot Blog threads to avoid disruption. Please note that the developers do not need reminding repeatedly that a bug is not fixed yet. They have a bug-tracker for that purpose. If there are regressions from previous Snapshots, then the Snapshot thread is the right place to report them.

If you want to know about the status of a bug, please ask in the Bug Status Thread.

  • Similar problem for me.

I solved it in this way:

    1. Uncheck option third party cookies
    2. Enter gmail account
    3. Exit gmail account
    4. Check option third party
    5. Problem solved

    Hope this help someone.

    Snapshot 2.2.1388.6 (64-bit)
Ghostery / HTTPS Everywhere / WOT / AdBlocker Ultimate / uBlock Origin / Mate Translate

  • Oops, problem again.
As I wrote above, I uninstall problematic extension.
    Later I removed all extensions.
Problem appears sporadically again, Snapshot 2.2.1388.6 (64-bit), 3rd party cookie blocked.
Workaround: manually delete Service worker cookie (see may post with scenario above).
Due to problem is not persistent I cannot make scenario for reproducing it. 😞
    Waiting for VB-46021 fix (again).

  • Looks like gmail still broken with third party cookies disabled, cannot login into Gmail.

  • @saudiqbal
Hi, no problem to log in to Gmail with Vivaldi 2.2.1388.29 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit) and blocked third party cookies.
I use User Agent Switcher anyway as Mail also use bad browser sniffing.
The support mention to use another browser, bla bla.
Nothing Vivaldi can do about Google and other dump web companies.

    Cheers, mib

@saudiqbal As it says on the Blog:

    Release candidate feedback

To help us get 2.2 out the door as soon as possible, please focus your feedback on serious regressions since 2.1 stable. If you want to ask about new (post 2.2) features or longstanding issues, please do so on our forums.

So, yet again, post moved to your original bug-report thread.

As noted before, and by others, I have no problem logging in the Gmail, whether third-party cookies are blocked or not.

@saudiqbal said in Gmail not working with third party cookies disabled:

I have had 3rd party cookies disabled for as long as that option has been available on all browsers I use and I sometimes get this error also BUT I've been getting it from the days of Opera 10 maybe. Long before V. (And also with PaleMoon on occasion.)
Also using Vivaldi 2.2.1388.23 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I am not a web programmer but do not believe it has anything to do with blocking 3rd party cookies. I "Personally" believe it has to do with google's cookies trying to hold on to my session when I log off and Delete Private Data. Yes I believe there is a conspiracy...

This is the only time I get this error.

Also I have not experienced any of the other issues mentioned. My google folders are fine, I can delete spam, create new folders, add to them and delete them with no problem.
The only issue I have with gMail is how now seems to be copying apple and how ugly it has become with its new update.
I do have a lot of extensions (listed below), they do not seem to be a bother although some do some of the same things:

    • Privacy Badger
    • Decentraleyes
    • IBM Security Rapport (doesn't work, but I keep hoping IBM will support Vivaldi so I can do my banking)
    • IP Address and Domain Information
    • URL expander
    • Nano Adblocker
    • Nano Defender
    • Recursive Bookmark Sorter (disabled, only use it occasionally)
    • Shodan
    • ThreatPinch Lookup
    • uBlock Origin
    • Vivaldi Forum mod
    • VTchromizer
    • Windows Defender Browser Protection

I have also tried a couple of user agent switchers which did not appear to help.
None of them seem to slow down V so I keep them.
No issues with gMail and the latest V on Linux Mint 17.3.

    Anti-Virus: Sophos Home Premium Beta

Apologies for going on and on but the more info we can provide Vivaldi Devs the better chance they have of resolving the issue.

@greybeard Well, I blocked 3rd party cookies and could still log on.

Then I deleted every cookie related to Google, and I could no longer log on. Re-enabled 3rd party cookies, and it worked like a dream. So Google is trying to do something with a cookie from another domain, and if it doesn't find that cookie, it chokes.

  • Ambassador

@Ayespy I am beginning to to hope it keeps on choking.

  • This worked for me:
go to chrome://settings/content/cookies in vivaldi and allow this websites to store cookies.
[*.] or .uk etc (local domain) or .uk etc (local domain)

all this websites are needed for google, gmail, youtube and hangouts to work properly with block third-party cookies checked, at least for me.
