Fix/review (Dev' Tools/Web Scraper extension) form input interactions #Bug
-
Hi all,
Hope you're well
Thanks for software
Would anyone be kind enough to install Web Scraper[r] extension and try reproduce these[e] issues, currently unsure if this is extension or Vivaldi specific
The extension hasn't been updated for some months while Vivaldi has had some updates recently which suggests this could be a Vivaldi bug and I'm sure the extension author would appreciate feedback
If you have any issues (e.g. questions/queries) happy to help
Hope to hear back
Yours faithfully

If you're sure the extension author would appreciate feedback, you should probably provide such feedback to them directly and tell them the extension doesn't work on Vivaldi. And if you want to report a dysfunctional extension to Vivaldi, there is only one way – a bugreport.

I checked the extension now and it runs in developer tools, which is problematic, because Vivaldi's implementation of developer tools is different to that on chrome. Despite that the webscraper tab can be accessed. I didn't manage to input the URL, the input field doesn't work. Is that your problem? Anyway, don't think many Vivaldi users have this extension installed. You will have to take care of the reports yourself, because you'll know best what doesn't work.

Hi @luetage,
Thanks for reply

I did report this to the author, the URLs are in my original post
Please read my original post, I wanted someone to reproduce this issue before I consider reporting:

Thanks for checking
Yes, focusing form inputs seems to be the main issue

Hi @Gwen-Dragon,
Thanks for reply
Please do not bump a thread
Unsure how else I could have gone about this
You will not get faster bugfixes for the extension!
I'm not asking for a bug fix, I'm asking for someone to kindly reproduce the issue
Report to Vivaldi with a precise step-by-step description how to reproduce the issue
I may do that if someone else can reproduce the issue
If nobody can reproduce the issue then it's pointless wasting anyone else's time; I'll likely let it go and hope it's fixed next time I install my OS
Regards
PS NB After generous intervals, I usually BUMP three times then give up

@Gwen-Dragon mmm, good excuse to try something else[e]!

@Gwen-Dragon In the topic they clearly say Vivaldi is not a supported browser. The extension is up on chrome webstore and no developer can be forced to ensure compatibility with all chromium browser. The chrome webstore exists to serve the Chrome browser alone.
Vivaldi is using the chrome webstore, but in return the Vivaldi devs have to ensure compatibility. If the compatibility isn't there, extensions break, simple as that. That doesn't mean bugs can't be reported to the extension makers, but we shouldn't be surprised if they can't be bothered to fix something for an absolute niche browser like Vivaldi.

Interesting to know
FYI I just tested with https://brave.com - another Chromium[m]-based browser - and no issues so IMO it's in Vivaldi's best interest to take a look at this
Broken extensions is a turn off, especially when they work in other browsers
@Gwen-Dragon
A bug report to Vivaldi is the only action @ldexterldesign can do to let them investigate
K, I'll submit a report ASAP
Cheers
