Uh-oh. So now the only way to store flash settings is chromium policy, I fear.
VB-44574 - and others - sound interesting

@ruario After installing (on Mageia 6) vivaldi-snapshot-2.2.1360.4-1.x86_64.rpm I haven't found a way to pass the H.264/MP4 test at the URL https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html. The previous snapshot ( vivaldi-snapshot-2.2.1350.4-1.x86_64.rpm) passed the same H.264/MP4 test.
I tried using the vivaldi-libffmpeg-install.sh script with the u switch (install for current user) and noticed a version that started with 70 was installed (failed H.264/MP4 test) but this current snapshot has chromium 71.0.3578.27. The page for the script is no longer maintained, so I looked around in http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-team/beta/ubuntu/pool/main/c/chromium-browser/ and I see some likely files but I'm not sure which to download.
I don't use my desktop computer for Netflix or Amazon video anyway, so I'll just go back to snapshot 1350 and will try the next snapshot after 1360.
Edit: I got the same error with snapshot 1350 and the script didn't seem to help, so I installed snapshot 1360 again and tried a YouTube video. That worked, so just for fun I tried the test at https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html again and now snapshot 1360 passes. I'm not sure what happened, but I did logout from the graphical desktop environment (stopped the X server) and logged back into the graphical desktop environment (started the X server).

Vivaldi crashes when i try to clear private data in private window.
Can someone confirm this? I'm using the 2.2.1360.4 32-Bit build on Win10 -
@mib2berlin: Indeed a symlink to that directory cannot work because it is within root's home directory, which normal users cannot read.
It is super weird that it could have been setup like that. It would imply that rpm was run as a user (
$USER
) not called "root" who had a home directory ($HOME
) directory defined as root's home directory (/root/
).Ok, I do not understand it but I do know how we could fix it and we will. In the mean time, what happens if you run
sudo /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/update-widevine
Does this resolve it?
-
@mrprobs: Start vivaldi from a terminal. and then shut it down. In the terminal output, it will tell you the command to resolve the issue.

Just a small issue. Widevine not working on Linux Mageia/OpenMandriva. At least for me I see libwidevinecdm.so symbolic link in /opt/vivaldi-snapshot and it link to /var/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so
but any DRM media wont work. Also ffmpeg.so is installed and work (from Ruari script). -
@angrypenguin said in Better Widevine (EME) support for Linux – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1360.4:
/var/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so
Run a sha256sum on this file and give me the ouput

@ruario
Hi, videwine updated to Widevine (1.4.9.1089) installed successfully
but Netflix send same error message.
libwidevinecdm.so is now a lib instead a symlink.
I update Vivaldi with package management zypper.
vivaldi://components does not show Widevine but never does anyway.
Should I may update with rpm -U vivaldi....Thank you for looking in to, mib
-
@mib2berlin: Can I have the output of
ls -l /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so
and
sha256sum /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so

@ruario
Sure.lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 7. Nov 19:05 /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so -> /var/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so
Ooops, is still a link.
sha256sum /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so 05dd2010df01898c5769bdd34bc0fb10ec33d2a698dcb7f9a769c4cb8ccbe26f /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/libwidevinecdm.so
-
@angrypenguin: Well that is the correct version.
Hmm, I am not at a linux machine right now. Would you mind testing something for me. Download this instead
https://dl.google.com/widevine-cdm/4.10.1146.0-linux-x64.zip
unzip it and use the libwidevine within the zip file instead and let me know if that works for you
-
@mib2berlin: That is the correct file. Hmm...
-
@mib2berlin: close any netflix tabs, delete your netflix cookies, restart the browser and try again
-
@ruario
Same error.
Will check install from scratch later and report.Cheers, mib
-
@ruario: Unfortunately, it's the same.
Could the problem was somewhere else? -
@ruario
Yep, deleting cookies/tabs and restart does not help.
@AngryPenguin, hi, can you add your OS, please?Cheers, mib

Hello,
when I wake up my computer (Arch Linux, Gnome, systemd) from suspend-to-ram, mouse gestures don't work on the tabs that were opened before I pu my computer to sleep. Gestures in new tabs (opened after the resume) are working fine. Is it known issue, or can somebody confirm this? This is not regression in the current snapshot, but I can't remember in which snapshot this problem appeared for the first time. -
I don't know why, but it makes me happy to see my very own VB among the list of fixed issues (even though it was a very small - almost irrelevant - issue).

Same situation on debian 9 with widevine/netflix. I tried reverting the new symlink to original location, but that didn't help either. Stable still works with /opt/google/chrome/libwidevinecdm.so v1.49.1088
