Make all imported bookmarks show icons immediately
-
At present, if you import bookmarks from another browser, and there could be (usually are) tons of them, they all show a blank file icon where the site icon should be. This means you're kind of in the blind until you open every single bookmark, at which time the proper icon is displayed. There ought to be a way to grab the icons from the old browser, too, and not just the URLs, yes?

@yukitaga There is a way, but it's laborious to program, and not included in Vivaldi yet. It requires knowing and accessing the different database structures for favicons in all different kinds of browsers, importing the favicons, and then plugging them in to the Vivaldi favicons database. I suspect (don't know for sure) that the Chrome favicons database is compatible, and one might be able to move that file over after importing Chrome bookmarks. If so, it would replace the existing favicon database - not add to it.

@yukitaga I couldn't find such request so I moved your thread to the Feature Request forum. If your "old browser" is Chrome (it probably works for other Chromium-based browsers too), you could try this to import the favicons:
@lonm said in My bookmarks favicon are not loaded after import from Chrome:
You could try going into your chrome profile and copying the files
Favicons
andFavicons-journal
into your vivaldi profile, but I can't guarantee that would work, or be bug-free.You can find your chrome profile location by visiting
chrome://about
in chrome, and your vivaldi profile can be found atvivaldi://about
in vivaldi. Copy the files to/from the folder listed as the profile path in each.Interestingly, when you export bookmarks into HTML file, the favicons data is stored there too. I think Vivaldi could (at some point) implement a method to fetch them from there...
