Visible Close Button for Tiled Tabs
-
@pesala You're not a pest. You're challenging the feature request. You have an interesting point here
the button might be obscuring the user's profile icon and blocking access to the menu
This is true because all web pages aren't designed the same way so it could indeed hide necessary features.
I would then propose :
- ability to choose to show the close buttons on demand (in the settings for example)
- don't have the close buttons shown but rather go for a new right click option in the context menu when clicking on the tile screen you want to close
-
@ornorm said in Visible Close Button for Tiled Tabs:
a new right click option in the context menu
It should implemented in line with Pesala's request about configurable and editing menu. Otherwise, it could be tricky as many users find the right click's context menu overcrowded.

@hlehyaric Are you referring to this thread?
I did upvote it.
The request here is more about a specific need related to tiled tabs where closing the tabs you have opened aren't that obvious to close. -
@ornorm Yes, this is the thread I thought of. I upvoted it too.

- There is already a close tab option on the Tab Context Menu, but that's far away and context menus are slow to access and navigate.
- The close button on tabs could be always enabled, but again if the tile you want to close is at the bottom, the tab bar is also quite far from the current focus.
- I have suggested changing the Position of Address Bar for Tiled Tabs so that it moves down when the active tab is at the bottom.
- If the close button was on the Address Bar, perhaps that could solve this problem?
- Double-click to close is OK, but causes RSI when over-used.

@pesala I edited my previous post. Based on your answer it didn't seem to be clear enough. The right click would be a right click anywhere on the tile you want to close (no need to go on the tab bar of course - otherwise it wouldn't have any added value)
Edit : and added a new screenshot on the original post -
