Thanks

@nutcracker: Report a bug and attach the crash logs please
You can report it here: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/

That's nice... Seems like someone is deleting comments.
Mod Edit: The off-topic comments move moved to here, not deleted.

@ryofurue I just want to make sure that I did not misunderstand you... are you saying that the Vivaldi UI is still "dropping down" in but the macOS menu bar is not? If so, is there anything distinct about your setup? Multi-monitor? Desktop/window management tools such as Moom or Magnet?

Nice features, thx...
But please bring back the ability to zoom inside the web panels. -
[Media] Enable support for AV1 (VB-44942)
Out of curiosity: Why you guys have to "add" support for AV1 to Vivaldi? Isn't that a part of Chrominium already?
-
@serpher It is.
But Vivaldi - and most chromiums - have some differences in handling codecs/video formats as some of them will work only on chrome. Or they need a bit of fixing to working correctly (on win, mac and linux).
AV1 is open, so it was shipped soon and could be useful as alternative to a proprietary and not working codec on V. -
What will it take to finally get rid of the "An unspecified error occurred, if Vivaldi is open, please close and try again" message when trying to update? I frequently have to skip 2 or 3 snapshot updates because of this issue. Even when Vivaldi is closed, it doesn't work. Even installing the second the system boots, it is the same thing. Or if Vivaldi crashes! If it crashes, it shouldn't have anything still running, right? Yet the same message.
I'm stuck on 1328.4 because 1332.4 and 1337.17 are both failing this way each and every time, both through the included updater, and by installing directly from the exe file. Nothing will work. I go through this every few releases. It often takes 2 or 3 snapshots before one will finally install.
How do I close Vivaldi in such a way that it will actually update and without failing by insisting it is still running (when it isn't, verified by process explorer)?
This is such a frustrating issue, and it has been happening for the entire 18 months+ I've been using Vivaldi. Only about one out of every 4 releases will actually install, leaving me stuck on older builds for weeks sometimes.

@abqnm666 I wouldn't know. I have never seen the error and don't know what might cause it (aside from Windows registry errors). Since the problem is local to you, not built into the browser or installer, it is soluble - but not by re-coding Vivaldi.
There are any number of Mods here who would be happy to explore possible solutions that might work at your end.

Mac:
Ctrl + Left mouse button doesn't activate context menu (right mouse button click menu). -
I'm still seeing random tab switches after using RMB+Scroll. I perform the gesture, which works, then after about 10s the tab switches again.
I know this isn't related to a dodgy scroll wheel on my mouse, as if I let go of RMB, it is impossible to initiate the gesture.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to reproduce.

Good news. AV1 shows on youtube much superior color reproduction and clarity, than vp9 and h264. But it's not because these codecs are bad, it is because of google's greedeness for a bitrate for videos. Vimeo always has a better image quality than youtube just because of higher bitrate. Now only audio on youtube is shamefully bad and worser than on Vimeo. But there are chances, that audio on youtube will never will be good, because audio codecs already has come to their apotheosis of quality.

It's hard to mentally picture what you are saying
but I try . . . What you are describing seems to agree with what I see. In the fullscreen model, the titlebar sometimes broadens and entire UI drops down by that amount. Often, the titlebar shrinks back to its normal width (height) and the entire UI moves up.
In the meanwhile, the native menu bar of macOS isn't affected.
I tried to capture the screen -- the new macOS, Mojave, includes a native way to produce a screen-capture movie -- but as soon as I hit the screen-capture shortcut, the titlebar shrinks back to its normal height, as if Vivaldi is trying to hide this problem from the public eye
If so, is there anything distinct about your setup? Multi-monitor?
Multi-monitor. The problem doesn't show up on my Mac laptop with a single monitor.
Desktop/window management tools such as Moom or Magnet?
No. Everything's native.

Where saves Vivaldi "Export settings"?
-
@ryofurue Thanks very much! I'll pass that info on to the QA team.
There are three other cases that I know of where the Vivaldi UI "drop down" does not work correctly in fullscreen mode:
- With tabs not on top, the window control buttons do not work when the UI drops down
- When the Settings window is fullscreen, the UI does not drop down
- If "Use Native Window" is enabled

Looks Great! Just a small detail (maybe it's just me): when I type 'page zoom reset', the QC sugests me to search for it, only if I scroll down I can access the reset option. Tl; Dr: QC should sugest 'page zoom reset' as the action first and not a search term

Not sure to what it is related, but I can't play m3u8 files within Vivaldi. Let me explain:
I've installed the DVBViewer and its Media Server extension on my Home Server.
With the Medias Server I've access to stored TV Streams current broadcasts and
TV stations over a browser. Normally I can play a TV Station or a TV Broadcast within
the browser. In Edge it is working (Notebook) and an older Vivaldi version 1.11.915.3
(Home Server) is working too.
But the current Vivaldi Snapshot is asking me to download the master.m3u8 if I try to
play within the browser (Notebook).
Is it a bug in Vivaldi?mf
Environment: Windows 10 (x64), Vivaldi x64, 2.1.1337.17
-
@mikefield those are playlists not video/audio files per se
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M3U
Vivaldi isn't a media player like VLC, which supporst those playlists -
@ian-coog Thanks, but why is it working on the older 1.11.915.3 Vivaldi Version?
And why is it working in Edge? Now I got it working! I changed the output format from HLS HD to WebM HD!
Found an answer from Griga here: https://www.dvbviewer.tv/forum/topic/61439-stream-in-browser-doesnt-work-any-more/"Most likely HLS is selected as output format. For playing it in the desktop versions of Firefox
and Chrome you need to install the Native HLS Add-On (up-to-date Android versions can do
without it, as well as Edge unter Windows 10).Or just switch to WebM as output format."

@nutcracker Same here.
To trigger a problem try to do:- Go to wykop.pl, pin the tab, choose any title - open then by middle mouse button (it's important!).
- Go to new tab and on subpage again click on title of news, we are redirected to another page with wykop.pl frame (blue frame/bar on top page must be show - again it's important thing, because not all pages allow to show this frame).
- Then when we try close tab with mouse gesture, browser crash. This happens only at the first entrance to a subpage with a frame.
