The "Show Full Address" feature should not display Scheme(https/http)
-
The green lock and the earth icon have distinguished the protocol type, displaying that the HTTP Scheme is redundant.
Because I don't like the way you omit the parameters in the URL by default, so I will enable this feature. So I made this suggestion.
And I don't think it's a good idea to omit the parameters in the URL. For example, in Google search, parameters are keywords, and parameters are sometimes more important than path.
Additional: If the google example is not clear enough, then all video links for YouTube, which is also the highest traffic, will display the same.
So, I just want to hide the scheme, not the parameters. I hope it is an optional feature.

erm, I don't know if I understood exactly what you mean, but Show Full Address means exactly that, would have no meaning if it would not show the full address.
-
I think this is only relative to omitting parameters. Even Chrome will clearly distinguish between scheme and subdomains, etc. Rather than ambiguous "address". Most importantly, the user should have the right to hide the scheme while displaying the full URL.Just like a normal browser.

Even Chrome
Seems to me you're just triggered with irrelevant browser "issues". Why do you even care what chrome does? well, I am more than happy that Vivaldi isn't chrome and does its things in its way, else I wouldn't be using it
But OK, you might want to try to post this as a feature request and see if it gets voted. -

The full URL means just that, the full URL which includes http or https. That's what a URL is all about. Do you understand how the Internet works, and why the http part exists? Without it, you'd get nowhere.
Think of it this way: If someone gave you their home address so you could find it, but didn't give you the FULL address, how would you ever find them?
-
Of course, the "full" is relative to Vivaldi omitting URL parameters.
Omit the HTTP scheme Most browsers do this, basically the default.
It is not surprising to want to display the URL containing the parameters on a default basis...
-
Maybe I shouldn't apply the "Show Full Address" feature, I should say that it provides a feature to hide Scheme based on displaying the full URL.
Note: The "full" here is the URL relative to the hidden parameter.
-
If you don't understand the meaning of hidden parameters, simply speaking, Vivaldi's address bar does not display the content after "?"(question mark). The drawbacks of this have already been mentioned in the first paragraph.

That does not mean it is a "good thing"! Although if there was a option to display (or not) this specific area, that would be OK.
Vivaldi's address bar does not display the content after "?"(question mark)
I can agree with this part of your request, however.
You should have a look in https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/127/address-bar and add a new post for each request.

See the following article for more info on what Chrome is doing by hiding "www" and "m" subdomains in its omnibox. The feedback from Chrome users has forced google to reverse this "feature".
By the by I get everything in the address bar including what is after the "?". (?)
-
What Chrome does is wrong, it hides www itself, the removal of www can take you to a whole different website.
-
Of course, Chrome hides subdomains and I am one of the opponents.
I once published objections in the local community of my area and received the votes of 500+, including Chrome developers(Article link).
And this has nothing to do with hiding the scheme.
In a nutshell, searching for "hello" on Google doesn’t support displaying the address as: "www.google.com/search?q=hello"
Instead, you must choose one of "https://www.google.com/search?q=hello" and "www.google.com/search". -
@Gwen-Dragon Thank you for your reply.
Simply put, the way to display the address as: "www.google.com/search?q=hello" or "www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmQxi_c2MNw" is not considered, is it?
-
@gwen-dragon
The full address display is for experienced users who what to see it complete.
I agree with you because I am also a developer.
As a regular user, I don't think I can change Vivaldi, so I just ask further if I can add an option. When I enable the "Show full address" feature, I can choose to hide or not hide the scheme.
I wish everything is fine.
