Microsoft is tied to hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign bribes, whistleblower alleges
-
@npro To be fair, there are countries where you have to bribe people to do business.
-
Nearly four years later, it looks like nothing has really changed.
-
@npro Ah.
“I don’t want you to be a blocker,” he recalls the manager telling him. If he uncovered anything suspicious, the manager said, “You have to turn your head and leave it as is.”
I am shocked beyond words that an eminent company of pristine virtues & #1 product excellence, combined with ultimate respect for customer privacy & security, is apparently instead only corporate pondscum. Who knew?
-
MICROSOFT IS TIED TO HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FOREIGN BRIBES, WHISTLEBLOWER ALLEGES
This must be another Russian disinformation just like Hunter's laptop! Who is going to believe that if American don't believe the corruption evidence uncovered from that laptop months before the 2020 elections, insist to put Biden & Kamala in charge of America? LOL
Come on man, there are no such thing as "bribe" because we all know big tech always "lobbying" all sort of honest & decent politician to do the greatest deed for common little people. No good politician will sold the voters out for a few millions bucks, just as brandon the sober once said: "We have to... Wait what am I doing here?"

Biggest load of conspiracy gibberish I have wasted my time reading in quite a while.
-
@cantankrus Apparently, the sarcasm got lost in translation.

To be fair this is no where as BS as the Covid lab leak origin conspiracy... Oh, wait it's no longer a "conspiracy" according to the mainstream media. My bad, I guess CNN &
FacebookMeta need to fact check again later this year to decide if all the conspiracy they fact checked last year ain't conspiracy anymore when they try to to get their botched narrative right, I meant left... Uh, "politically correct"? LOL -
Haha, the wonderful fun just keeps coming.
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/chinese-hackers-abuse-vlc-media-player-to-launch-malware-loader/some initial access to some of the breached networks was through a Microsoft Exchange server, indicating that the actor exploited a known vulnerability on unpatched machines
deployed a custom loader on compromised systems with the help of the popular VLC media player
attacker uses a clean version of VLC with a malicious DLL file in the same path as the media player's export functions
The technique is known as DLL side-loading and it is widely used by threat actors to load malware into legitimate processes to hide the malicious activity.
Stockholm is just my very fave Syndrome.

I just purchased a Surface Laptop 4; Vivaldi and other non-Microsoft products simply won't install or, if they do, work properly after installation. It's the most determined sentry yet. Any suggestions other than change operating systems? I have need to remain with Windows.
-
@BoonAppledore Tweet Bill Gates about how awesome & lovely the Surface Laptop is, except it can't even function properly with 3rd party apps. LOL
-
@dude99 , Bill Gates since years has nothing to do with M$, now there are other bosses.

You just bought a nice new Windows laptop
https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/notebooks/microsoft+notebooks/surface+laptop+4
for a lot of money and you can't install Vivaldi for Windows on it?
This is almost impossible to imagine.
Or do you mean it as a bad joke? -
@BoonAppledore But first:
Welcome here to the forum!
Try to use Vivaldi, think you will not regret it.
Most of the time there is a solution. -
Microsoft is too busy being the problem to be the cure. Unfortunately the triumvirate of Google, Apple and Microsoft are winning - democratically in the age of relentless media. A mere mention of alternatives to the spyware with huge marketing budgets causes blank stares and silence until the interloper has left the building. Sometimes someone might display sympathy for the poor ignorant soul who simply doesn't understand the technology. It's all rather biblical really. The place to suggest alternatives without condescension is on their turf (Amazon, Facebook, etcetera).

What do you mean by that?
-
@ingolftopf We use it on our desktops and have been very pleased for some time. We purchased the laptop primarily to enable texting (Text Magic) without a cell phone.
-
Microsoft is getting increasing worse at protecting 'their computer' from alternative software. It's like buying a house from someone who continues to claim ownership and refuses to move out.
-
@BoonAppledore
You don't have to delete Windows, but you could install Linux 'next to' it.
A "dual boot" system.
With 'Q4OS' (Linux, 'Debian') you can install a Linux like a Windows program and delete it if necessary.There are for many Windows programs very good open source, Linux programs.
