chromium version in 'Help > About' info window
-
Hi,
I was looking for the chromium version of my browser and did not find it.
I expected it to be under 'Help > About' info window, together with the other internal browser details.
Can you please add it? -
@peefy Hello Peefy,
you did check into the correct section.
It is under User Agent (Chrome/65.0.3325.183 for the Stable version of Vivaldi)
-
@ornorm
thanks, i did not see that
but it is still a problem, because
we can change the user agent to be something else to 'mislead'some browsers,'
so i assume in that case, it will be not the correct version -
@peefy I never changed the user agent so I don't know if the information would be updated accordingly. If you did tweak the user agent, you could verify if the information has changed in the About section.
-
@ornorm If you tweak the user-agent with an extension or in developer tools, the information on the "About" page doesn't change. Vivaldi still knows its user-agent, you can't trick the browser itself, just websites

@peefy said in chromium version in 'Help > About' info window:

@luetage is right. You change your user agent to "mislead" websites, not browsers. If you use an extension that changes your user agent and you want to find out what it looks like to the websites you visit, just search for "what is my user agent" in google or another search engine. That shows you the fake UA string, whereas the one stated on the
vivaldi://about
is always relevant.
