"Vivaldi closed unexpectedly"

In spite of closing all tabs and thus being on the home tab, I receive the notification "Vivaldi closed unexpectedly" very annoying and unsettling.
Does anyone have an explanation and a "Cure", I'd appreciate some help.

Which distro and Vivaldi version? I have never seen this message before, try starting Vivaldi from terminal.

Thank you for your response 'lamarca', I'm running Vivaldi 1.15.1147.36 stable 64 bit on an ASUS F552L with Ubuntu 18.04 latest version of MATE.

No I start from the desktop, from the top panel, however I do run Firefox and Tor (not simultaneously) as well as Vivaldi.

Open the terminal and issue (or copy) the following command:
vivaldi --user-data-dir="/tmp/TEST-VIV" &
It's a clean and temporary install. Totally separated. In case Vivaldi doesn't close, then the issue lies on your profile. It's a quick test,

G'day again, I've tried that and with two "shut downs" it seems to have worked. I had moment of panic as I thought I'd lost my bookmarks, fortunately they are still there. Could you please give me a link to a web site that shows me how to back them up? Or better still if you could advise me how it can be done directly. I really appreciate your time and expertise.
