Auto-focus Address Bar on Keydown
-
Sometimes when I open the Start page, I decide to type an URL/search query instead of opening a speed dial. But if I navigate on the Start page, the address bar loses the focus. I guess it would be quite easy to capture the first
keydown
event and give the focus to the address bar automatically if no editable field has it. -
@nekomajin Have you enabled "Focus Page Content on New Tab," in Settings, Tabs?
If you want that to be enabled, then just press F8 or Ctrl+L to focus the address bar, otherwise, disable it if you generally use the mouse to open speed dials.

@nekomajin It seems as if the focus was lost only when clicking on the "back" button on the Start Page. Opening a speed dial folder does not cause the address bar to lose focus. Maybe it should be considered a bug?

@pesala
It is disabled. I like it this way.Anyway, my request is not about a specific keyboard shortcut.

@pafflick
The address bar also loses focus if you click on the navbar at the top.I would not consider it as a bug, because it works like any web page. (From this point of view, the bug is that the address bar does not lose the focus when we open a speed dial folder.) However, if no input/search field has the focus, the browser should assume that the user wants to type into the address bar.

This feature should only be optional if added, because it will interfere with Single-key Hotkey.

Thank you for your request. As it has received few votes over 4 years, it is now going to be archived.
