extensions (stylus, tampermonkey...) not working in sidebar?
-
Hi there,
I just discovered that extensions like Stylus and Tampermonkey work great in regular tabs but they have no effect on web panels in the sidebar.
For example: I like to use whatsapp web in a sidebar web panel to have it easily accessible. To reduce the required space for whatsapp web I wanted to install a userstyle using the Stylus plugin. This user style works fine when I open whatsapp web in a regular tab, but it looks like it's not applied to the whatsapp web inside the web panel. The same applies for user scripts and Tampermonkey.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Kind regards,
Achim Bitzer

actually no extension is working in the sidebars

Some extensions work in web panels (Stylish for example - it was removed from Chrome web store and I have disabled it since, but when I enable it, it still works). I've had some idea about what makes some extensions work in web panels, while others don't, but it seems that I've been wrong and I still haven't had the time to figure it out, as to what makes some extensions actually work in web panels...

@pafflick Stylus is an alternative to Stylish
-
@artex We already know that. What we don't know is why extensions like Stylish work in web panels whereas others like Stylus don't.

I have found that in the cases where Stylus does not seem to work in web panels initially, adding a snippet of nonsense CSS like
div.nonsense_css { abc: 123 }
to the beginning of the CSS has made it work in every instance I have tried (admittedly not many, but at least on websites that seem to have nothing in common).

Had the same issue. I found that Osprey is an other working alternative to style sidebars.
