Paste and go
-
Dear developers, is it so hard to implement "Paste and go" (by mouse) feature?
-
Dear paor, is it so hard to read other threads before posting?
-
No it is not, but I did not see the answer:
-
Paste & GO is already present in the UI. (See the vivaldi menu)
What's missing is the contextual menu, I hope it will arrive soon.

It's also in the horizontal menu, under Edit.
But using P&G from either of those 2 places is awkward and indirect.
The point is to click less, and move the mouse less, as I see things, and most if not all other browsers have P&G in their address bar dropdowns. Devs, PLEASE add this mainstream function ASAP.Thanks.
~Thanks for good answer

Pretty sure if it were a trivial bit of coding, it would already be there. Keep in mind Vivaldi does not have a native interface from the system, nor does it have a Chrome interface. Since it is being built to allow customization, the UI is built from scratch, using none of the elements from the system or the engine. Hence, every button, every text box, every panel, etc. is written from scratch.
So the URL bar, written from scratch, has to be written first, to work, and in time, its code has to be modified to make it interpret the context-menu command differently from other context menus (to include paste&go). This has to be done with Vivaldi's own original code, and it's pretty clear that's not quite done yet.

I believe the most valid point is that they are trying to implement a proper right-click context menu that allows customisation of them as well as use of their strings instead of Chromium strings. Still, they could bring it now to make things easier.
I would also like to ask for CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste and go in the address bar even without focus in address bar, like Presto Opera.

… Still, they could bring it now to make things easier. ...
Undoubtedly true, from your point of view. However… if you look at the Vivaldi poll at http://vivaldi.net/surveys/index.php/statistics_user/action/surveyid/561377/language/en, you'll see 47 or 48 other things that many of those responding to the poll would rate as more important "now" than implementing a "proper right-click context menu that allows customization". My only point here is that there are many voices asking for (and in some cases demanding) many different things... all of them competing for scarce developer time, effort, and priority. And at least some of those voices believe their particular 'things' would make life so much easier if pushed forward to "now". I personally defer to the developers as to when things should be brought forward, and for what is most important and appropriate to be done "now". Of course they need and value our input... but at the end of the day, it has to be up to them as to how things must unfold - and properly so.

I was not talking about bringing now the customisable right-click menu, I know this will take years if they ever implement it. I was talking about bringing now the Paste-and-Go option in the context menu.

I can bet it's as trivial as it gets.
Every demanded feature is a trivial bit of coding to everyone who isn't doing it.

@RRR13:
]Been using Opera for so long and never knew this awesome feature.
Try also:
opera:config#UserPrefs|PageBarOpenURLOnMiddleClick
Middle-click on the tab bar to open a new tab using the clipboard contents (could be a URL or a Google Search for text) .
