Crashes when opening developer tools

You're using a system that was built about 2.5 years ago ........
His arguments for keeping an outdated version not consistent, let me quote him:
Updating is not an option because of gnome, hotkeys, layout switching and many other things broken by canonical.

Rolf, you are the fifth user (an advanced user) to confirm what causes Vivaldi to crash.I won't let it gets me down and my enthusiasm will be the same.

@lamarca Yup, maybe it's time to switch to Linux Mint.

Ubuntu has technical limitation. What point release are you on?
-
@gwen-dragon 1.16.1246.7 crashes
@lamarca I don't need to update effective and supported version of OS to make single app working. It's ridiculous to do that for LTS release.
@RocknRolf Which old vivaldi version will work without this new bug?In my opinion, an LTS system is less suitable for the desktop. Lts support is more needed in the server area.
You are completely wrong. There are different LTS releases for each purpose. In common they all are mostly intended for enterprise usage where stability and long-term support are needed. What is developed for server usage is named Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS. The one I use is Ubuntu Desktop 16.04 LTS. Please double check the difference in naming of these editions.

@gwen-dragon I bet your "point release" is different. I talked to Nestor (from Softpedia), the last one is 5
Its similar to our version number: 16.04.5 -
@gwen-dragon said in Crashes when opening developer tools:
Please send us the crash dump file at the time of crash.
And the Point Release version
Let me see if I get what Nestor posted
-
Done. It's Release Candidate
Sent you. -
@gwen-dragon Absolutely. I had a hard day, see you
-
Please send us the crash dump file at the time of crash.
I've attached crash log with mine bug report VB-42176.
And the Point Release version
# uname -a Linux desktop 4.15.0-15-generic #16~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 5 12:19:23 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If you encounter crash issues on the new Snapshot, please feel free to ping me and i will reopen your bug VB-42176.
I regret to inform you that 1.16.1259.3 also crashes. Please reopen the bug and I'll send google drive link to crash log.

@gwen-dragon Done

Same problem since 1.14.*, 1.15.1147.64 on archlinux and debian testing. Browser crashes multiple times a day, as i need the dev bar very often.
Testing now 1.16.1279.3

Sorry to necro but I got a dev tools crash today on Ubuntu 19.04. Vivaldi version: 2.5.1525.48
Apparently this is still occasionally an issue.

Did you get a crashlog?
Can you reproduce this and send a bugreport?
Please read how to Report a bug for Vivaldi carefully and then report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker.I've experienced this crash a couple more times, but I don't have any crashlogs, unless they are showing up somewhere other than

This usually happens to me when I leave the computer unattended by some time.. It seems to happen regardless of windows being locked or not.
I'm not sure if it's related to leaving the computer unattended or just not using vivaldi.
I have the latest vivaldi version and updated windows and this happens on different computers.Note: I'm not sure if I had the devtools open before and it crashes after leaving the computer unattended for a while and opening dev tools again on another window/tab.
-
I seem to have the same symptoms. I haven't been able to find the pattern yet, and I don't get crash logs, but it only seems to happen after the browser has been open for a while. It happens almost once per day which gets really frustrating as a web developer.
-
Today I've experienced two similar crashes when hitting the "Print" shortcut (Ctrl+P). I'm starting to wonder if the problem is not exclusive to opening the dev tools.

@GyozaGuy Which Linux do you use?
What do you see if you start Vivaldi in shell (terminal, Konsole)?I'm running an up-to-date installation of Ubuntu 19.04 (upgraded from 18.10).
It took two days of running before it crashed, but I finally got it. Here is what shows up in my terminal when running from the command line: https://pastebin.com/nAnFR34x.
Interestingly, if I open the extension URL that is showing up all over the place (
chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/browser.html
), it opens a blank tab, and when I use the shortcut to open dev tools from that blank tab, a new dev tools window is opened each time instead of toggling the dev tools. If I close the first one, all of the others close as well. I'm assuming that extension is some internal Vivaldi thing, I checked all of my extensions and none of them have that particular URL/ID. -
It just happened again today, right in the middle of trying to figure out a bug on a site at work. I really don't want to have to switch off of Vivaldi while at work, but it's getting pretty frustrating to lose where I'm at at unpredictable moments. I'm on Vivaldi 2.6.1566.49.

Here it crashes everytime when I try to open developer tools.
The dump (whithout core) can be found here:
http://hek.bplaced.net/.ubuntu/vivaldi.dmp
I used the windows-version before, and don't know if it ever worked in the Linux-version.
