    @burbuja OK. Also working normally here with or without floating panels.

  • @paralaks
    Oh yes, this crash here too.
    Time to make a bug report:

    Cheers, mib

    I think I will use beauty of Linux. I will add a cron job to backup session files every hour and purge the ones older than a day.

    I am really grateful that you posted that innovative idea. I'm not much chop with cron jobs, & pretty mediocre with CLI more generally, so i opted for my preferred GUI route. Today i created a repeating job [ea. 30' x 2 days] in my BackInTime GUI [ha, i'm happy to leave it to do all the dirty work with cron & rsync]:

    So far, for the few hours this has existed:

    $ ls -l

    Even though overall the resource usage of SB was rather trivial, i'm nonetheless now saving that little bit more memory by having now disabled SB [i'm still not prepared to actually uninstall it , yet]:

    An excellent idea of yours!

  • @burbuja Already reported ( earlier in this thread )

    @gwen-dragon said in Resizable Tab Tiling – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.16.1230.3:

    @alphageekv2 Is that only a special download-URL or with all downloads?
    What shows the internal page chrome://downloads when you have such empty download panel.

    Oh yes, i see. I had in settings a floating panel and all showed my downloads.
    But if i switch to regular download panel nothing is shown in list.
    I will check if there is a bug report.
    Done.

    Download list shows up if you switch panels after all is downloaded.

    Bug is reported as VB-41700 "[Regression] Download panel does not show list"

  • Entire browser just crashes when I open the [Inspector] with this version.

    Also somewhat relevant blog post...: https://koolio.vivaldi.net/2017/12/02/vivaldi-tab-split-vs-maxthon2-10years-ago/

  • @burbuja: Yes I confirm. Windows 10 x 64 vivaldi x 32
    No floating pannels

    @burbuja Known and reported bug with download list missing!
    No report needed.
    i did it some days ago.

    VB-41700 [Regression] Download panel does not show list

  • @koolio No crash here.

  • I guess M3 is on the someday list? Or has it been completly dropped I can see it is very hard to make an Email client.

  • Moderator

    @dovelove As has been expressed dozens of times in the forums, including this week, M3 has not been dropped, is under heavy development, and improves every day. Several testers and developers (including myself) use it all the time.

  • @pesala

    it also did not restore the adjusted tile sized.

  • Read this today https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/google-enables-site-isolation-feature-for-99-percent-of-chrome-desktop-users/

    Google Enables "Site Isolation" Feature for 99% of Chrome Desktop Users

    Google has secretly enabled a security feature called Site Isolation for 99% of its desktop users on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS. This happened in Chrome 67, released at the end of May.

    Site Isolation isn't a new feature per-se, being first added in Chrome 63, in December 2017. Back then, it was only available if users changed a Chrome flag and manually enabled it in each of their browsers.

    The feature is an architectural shift in Chrome's modus operandi because when Site Isolation is enabled, Chrome runs a different browser process for each Internet domain.

    I first activated this in V-SS a couple of months ['ish] ago, with rather unpleasant outcomes, so i disabled it again. Checking now in 1.16.1230.3, & also the latest Chromium, both still have this Disabled.

    Has anyone yet tested it in our current snapshot, to see if it still breaks pages & functions? I'm not really in the mood to test it atm, so i thought i'd see first if other Vusers already might have tried.

  • Vivaldi 1.16 still has issues with (Strict) Site Isolation, however browsing is still mostly possible. You can interact with embeded content in iframes now (YouTube videos embed on other sites for instance), and you can technically interact with Google ReCAPTCHA v2 now, however there are often issues where a page will freeze after loading requiring you to switch tabs to get it to start working again, and if you click on the check box in Google ReCAPTCHA v2 the CAPTCHA will freeze until you switch tabs and switch back.

    They're slowly getting there, but they still have some work to do.

  • @gt500 Teehee, thank you for doing the dirty work so now i don't need to, 😏. I'll leave it disabled for now.

  • @steffie There's a possibility that some of my extensions play a role in specific symptoms I see as well. You can try it and see if you have the same issues. It's mostly painless right now, except for the page freezing issue and the ReCAPTCHA v2 freezing issue.

  • Pffft! I have to switch to Firefox to be able to post a reply here. What is wrong with the latest snapshot for God's sake!?

  • @mib2berlin: I am having stupid login issues on this blog with Vivaldi so I won't bother submitting. Care to do it?

  • @steffie: I am glad the idea worked for you :)

    Well, I had offered you help which would be:

    Added line below to crontab (crontab -e) so it is running every 30 minutes:
    */30 * * * * php /path_to/scripts/backup-vivaldi-session.php

    And the script is waiting to be perfected :)
    <?php
    $source='/path_to/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Current Session';
    $destination='/path_to/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Sessions/'.date("Y-m-d_H:i:s").'.bin';

    shell_exec('cp "'.$source.'" '.$destination);
    ?>

    Backups are piling up lol! Rather than using a timestamp in the file name, I will probably use hour-minute so that there will always be 24 sessions backed up.

  • @paralaks

    I had offered you help

    Yes indeed, undisputed, but i try to minimise my sponging off others as much as possible + [blush] i kinda like my GUIs.

  • @steffie Liking GUIs, no comment. Well, Linux users always learn something from others. That's how we grow, eh! :)
