Window Background Image: From Tabs to Title Bar
-
Hi there
My "problem" here derives from a lack of customization features.
In fact, I quoted the word "problem" exactly for that reason, because it's not a real problem, but just something that is not possible, and I think it would be nice if it was.The topic is about the new "Window Background Image" feature being always applied to the tab bar, I really love this feature and it looks amazing if using the right textures, but I noticed that if someone places the tab bar in a non default position, such as the right side of Vivaldi (Or left, or down (As I do)) the fact that the background is only and always applied to the tab bar could be not exactly eye appealing.
What I wanted to propose is to add an option that lets you choose if you want to apply this new feature to the tab bar (as it is now) or in the title bar (the one that is always on the top of Vivaldi's application), like the one in the theme section (apply accent color to window) that allows you to apply the theme color to the window meaning that you switch the theme color visualization from the background of the tab bar to that one of the title bar (if not for the single active tab that behaves the opposite way, remaining colored if you don't select this option, and uncolored if you select it).
This way you could choose to have the background texture always behind the tabs, or always on the top (or maybe both, even though I don't thik that would be nice to see, but someone could ).

Good idea, if this option was incorporated, but it can also be done in another way:

Maybe @cheve11e_191 can check if the planned theme change already supports this?
There is/was an example to have "Window Background" actually mean the whole window and then select if it is visible in or obscured by
- Title/tab bar
- Address bar
- Startpage
- Side panel content/selector

It would be nice as a function, but it seems to me that currently, apart from Background, Startpage and Tab bar, it can be done only through CSS

Changes to how background images are applied are in the works! It may not turn out exactly like what you are asking for OP, but I agree that only showing the image behind the tab bar looks a little odd when it is on either side.

Most of the "Window Background" approach seems to now be covered in the new 'Theme' implementation (
Vivaldi 4.4.2482.13
).Apart from maybe transparency flags for address bar and side panel content (?).

Thank you for your request. As it has received few votes over 4 years, it is now going to be archived.
