    @suneelbanerjee:

    Hello,

    whenever I change vivaldi's homepage to google, it automatically sets it back to vivaldi's webpage.

    At this stage of development, in order to get the homepage textbox to save anything, the site info you enter MUST include a valid web protocol such as http:// to introduce the website. Then it will save.

  • Also, if you have a local htm file on your drive that you want to use for a homepage, Vivaldi also works fine with that. For example, I use one created with the Page1 program, containing a myriad of personally significant links on it, and addressed via:

    file://localhost/C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Page1/xxxxx1.htm

    What is most useful with this approach is that all my browsers are set to the same custom home page, so that they all open to the same page that looks exactly the same regardless of browser. In Vivaldi's case and at this stage of development, I have to make sure my last viewed tab is the homepage, and Vivaldi will open right to it.

    Right. I refer to file://, http://. https://, vivaldi://, chrome:// all as valid "web protocols" because they all instruct the browser to "browse" to a specific address to receive a transfer of data. Technically, I suppose they are all just "addressing protocols."
