happened to me several times too. Sometimes the maximized window isn't 100% maximized to all edges; the top edge has some 10-20px space. During these occasions I have to manually restore window and maximize again, and the problem is gone. But I don't know what causes it.

@bebotette Known bug.
-
OK if this known bug i will wait for update of vivaldi, thanks for your time.

This one is taking a long time to squash. Still broken in the latest snapshot.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit •Snapshot 1.16.1195.3 (64-bit)

Still no solution to the problem?
It's very frustrating -
More info about fix? Any link that explains what I have to install?
Thank you, mate.

@darthmax If you want to fix this problem you have to use Insider (Microsoft's beta program) builds. To do this, go to update&security in Windows settings and apply to Windows Insider program.

What about the people they don't can use it because of a policy at the work?
-
@shadowfm Then they have to wait like us. Many of people (me included) have this problem.

That is a Windows 10 bug.
Windows Insider version has it fixed.Windows 10 1803 and I use most of known browsers. No problem at all. Only Vivaldi have this bug. Still broken in the latest snapshot. More info about fix? Thank you.
-
@sispol Sorry, you can't expect Vivaldi to fix Windows 10 bug. I'm also dealing with this issue, not only in Vivaldi. Other people are too.
-
@pafflick Excuse me. Wrong question. Why only Vivaldi have this problem? The other browsers maximized correctly. I have no use for Discord, Spotify etc, but Vivaldi is my default browser and do not want to change it. If you fix the tab behavior I will use Vivaldi forever.

Well, technically, this is also a wrong question. Vivaldi isn't the only app suffering from this bug. Ironically, I don't stumble upon this issue in any of the Vivaldi installations on my PC (I have two - stable & snapshot), since both always open maximized windows, but I struggle with it in Spotify. I have to maximize Spotify twice, every time.
I think it has something to do with the way Vivaldi "builds" its windows. Some apps, like Spotify, use the same methods and hence they're vulnerable to this bug. Other apps (including other browsers) use another way to build windows and they're not affected.
Vivaldi has an option for using native windows (Settings > Appearance > Window Appearance > Use Native Window). You can check that option to "fix" Vivaldi weird behaviour on Windows 10 ver. 1803 immediately, at the price of giving out some of the space at the top of the screen for a subjectively ugly windows title bar.

Hi,
just came across a solution for this problem. Just change your compatability settings to "Windows 8".
That fixed it for me. -

You all constantly forget this is happening on windows 7 aswell, it's not a win10 ONLY issue.

I have this weird problem with v 2.3.1401.7 and latest Win 10 updates

On the other hand, in newer 2.3 snapshots, the new windows even at start are always maximized in both my win7 32bit PCs; there is a - maybe related - new bug tho, if you minimize then remaximize the window, it's not really maximized, and you can't maximize anymore, you have to push F11 twice to get it maximized again. It doesn'ìt happen if you un-maximize and maximize again, only on minimize.
