Fix for Reddit video freeze – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.16.1177.5
-
@pesala: I've noticed this with one of my extensions: Autoplaystopper. When I press the volume keys on my keyboard or the calculator button, then the Autoplaystopper menu is displayed (as if you clicked on the icon). The buttons do work and lower, increase, mute or bring up the calculator, but they also interact with Vivaldi for some reason (I haven't linked them to Vivaldi; haven't done anything to them).
I've noticed that when I disable the extension, then I got some box type floating window with no borders saying
"Your file was not found It may have been moved or deleted. ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND"
after pressing the buttons. Re-enabling the extension seems to fix the issue, but once you restart, you're back to how it was.
I thought it was some issue particular to the extension, but the file not found thing makes me think it's directly related to Vivaldi.
Running the 32-bit snapshot of Vivaldi on Windows 10 (64-bit).

It seems the hanging focus that was introduced with the previous branch is even worse (for me) now. I can not trigger a hover on my overlay panels from a webpage, they only respond if focus was on a UI element. Then the focus on those elements is not released on mouse over but must be released by selecting a web element.
The 1.14 branch nor any previous branches had this behaviour.

@an_dz A couple of different things happened.
The first time I restarted the browser, right after installing the update, it showed all the tabs, but they were inaccessible, and the cloud icon at the bottom had the three dots in it.
So I force closed the browser and reopened it, which resulted in the same thing. I right clicked on the taskbar icon, and used that to open a new window, which worked... eventually, but then I couldn't do anything with the window besides open the settings window, where the sync status page said that it was still loading the data. Then I went to do something else for a couple minutes, and when I came back, Sync had apparently finished and I could use the browser again.
I'm on Windows 10 1803, using the 64-bit version of Vivaldi.

Thanks for the update! here are my findings:
- After first testing, it looks like the horrible runaway vertical scrollbar bug has been eliminated (not
mentioned in changelog). That would be amazing!!!
Not really. Here it is still present:

With this version the problem VB-38973 has worsened. Now browsing is really difficult! by clicking on the scroll bar the page will scroll quickly as if you were still clicking on the scroll bar.

Inverted favicons in dark themes (VB-39657)
Is this supposed to fix (VB-40003) On dark themes the favicon of a tab created by an extension is displayed inverted when the tab is inactive as well? For me it got even worse Most extension tabs display the default 'globe' icon, some display none (e.g. uBlock Origin) and the ones which are displayed (e.g. RSS Aggregator) still get inverted.

@mikefield May be related to new bug VB-40138 "Vivaldi keeps scrolling down"
Thanks Gwen-Dragon for confirming it. I think it's the same.
But it occurs also during scrolling up.mf

Hmm, I am not able to post anything in Disqus... The logon does not work. Been like this for a while.
Win10x64 Vx64

@helsten2 If you go to the site
vivaldi://flags/#enable-site-per-process
, is that enabled? If so, disable it. -
Finally favicons are high-DPI again on macOS with Retina Display...
-
@lonm: It is disabled
EDIT: If I go to disqus.com, I am logged in. If I try to post anything on a web site, it looks like I am logged off. However, if I try to logon again, the popup disappears immediately.
No problem in other browsers.
EDIT2:
I have the same problem with SPiD. I am logged on, but the newspapers I try to read, think I am not. Also works in other browsers. -
I miss the old 'Dark' default theme (before: red and black: now: black and black). I like the new black too, but maybe include the old 'Dark' as 'Dark Vivaldi' or something (since it's kinda the dark version of the new 'Vivaldi' theme)
-
I know I wasn't the first to complain about this but since I'm still not the only one, I've gone ahead and filed a bug report
VB-40151

@helsten2 Sounds like an issue with 3rd party cookies. Go to Settings > Privacy > Cookies and make sure the option to block 3rd party cookies is turned off. Some tracker (incl. ad) blockers may override this setting.
-
@lonm: Option to block 3rd party cookies is off. I also disabled my ad-blocker. I have also deleted all cookies. No difference.
-
@helsten2 If everything you do is the same and it works in another browser but not vivaldi, then it sounds like a bug. You could report one here: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
-
@lonm: Yes. But I guess others would also be affected - if it was a bug ... No sign of that ... So I still think it is something with by setup. Both Disqus and SPiD worked fine before ...

Hi...just little ol' me imploring you to fix the three-release regression of "the remove tab spacing in maximized window" option not being consistently honored. I'm still on 1.13. Thanks for any consideration given. Love, me.

Hello, I just wanted to say a few things with no bad intention.
I'm still on a Snapshot before the recently released Stable version, but I read people were still having problems. I still encounter the scroll bar bug, random crashes, the cursor disappearing over links, etc. I am just wondering since I've seen some issues regarding the stable version, what does that mean for the future of Vivaldi?
I haven't tested it myself, but if those problems persist in the Stable version, how can it be released as such? What does this mean moving forward? I've been worried with the direction Vivaldi has taken the past dozen or so Snapshots. I remember an occasional bug or two, but nothing that wouldn't get ironed out. Lately it just seems there's too much to address while implementing new things. I know we all experience different issues. Some people may have bugs others do not. I know the devs do a wonderful job and I appreciate their hard work daily. But if Stable has problems that I wouldn't consider minor, what can I look forward to?
