Snapshot (1.0.151.7) Updated tiling and tons of polish
-
Hey all, Things have been very busy after a few days of Easter vacation. We are getting close to another TP and we are spending a lot of time on bugs and polish. We have made some adjustments to Tab Stack Tiling, you now have a Tile icon in the status bar so you can tile Tab Stacks and selected tabs from there. We have also added an “unread” tab indicator for background tabs.Keyboard shortcuts continue to get attention and we have fixed a couple of annoying bugs there, for example the bug where shortcuts wouldn't work on error pages. Also Vivaldi will not send you back in history when you use CTRL + left arrow in text fields now. Please note that if you installed Vivaldi as standalone and auto-update to this latest build, in some cases, you may not have access to your previous session, history etc after the update. If that happens, you can simply delete newly created User Data folder in your install directory, and rename your Profile folder to User Data. https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/22-snapshot-1-0-151-7-updated-tiling-and-tons-of-polish //Christian - Vivaldi Technologies

REGRESSION in last build and only partially fixed in this build.
In build 124, searches on this page were working: https://aivitals.co.clark.nv.us/WebPIInternet/ (in older versions it was a reliable hard crash for the browser).
In last build it crashed the search page and always presented a results page that could not load any content (though it would try forever)
In this build, it no longer crashes the search page, but still presents a results page that can not load any content but shows "loading…" forever.

Speed dial thumbnails endlessly refresh (I realize this was reported in old versions too, but it's the first time I'm having the issue).
-
Notes still save the characters ", ', and & as their HTML equivalents ( -" -' -& ). Here's a screenshot to illustrate:

Wasn't going to bother installing this but I did all for 3 minutes before getting the Geek uninstaller in action. Yet again another release I cannot use my Quickpaste hotkey program with especially using the windows key. All other browsers are fine such as Opera!

Pressing the button "Clear Downloads" it clears all downloads file like a pack
Downloaded 2 files when I go to show panel>downloads and I selected 1 of them and press "Clear Downloads" the 2 downloads files are deleted, in old versions only the selected downloaded file was deleted not all downloaded files like a pack.
Win7 32 bits/vivaldi 32 bits at the moment….I will check it in 64bit PC/vivaldi 32 bits later -
It says "Clear downloads". That's what it does.
-
To delete one or more selected downloads, press the Delete key.
-

maybe your´re right…or NOT!!!! you're wrong, in old version of vivaldi the button "Clear Downloads" only deletes the selected file and no all files I guess, I don't remember but you're right it says "clear downloadS"
so… why don't they Devs put or present the schema used in the other panels like Notes Panel with the minus icon to delete things in Downloads Panel?
and plus it uniforms so all panels… I think and guess. -

NOT!!!! you're wrong, in old version of vivaldi the button "Clear Downloads" only deletes the selected file and no all files
You are either impatient or illiterate (or both). It does exactly what it says that it does. If previous versions did not, then they were broken.
If you wish to delete one or more downloads, then select them and press the delete key.
Opera 12.17 has a context menu that gives the choice of "Remove" or "Remove all listed."

2 bugs in Vivaldi 64bit, Windows 7:
- keyboard shortcut customization does't work for all commands:

1.1) it's also impossible to delete all the shortcuts of a command -> it gets the DEL shortcut assigned.
- vivaldi://settingspage can't be scrolled: no scrollbars are shown, and mousewheel and DOWN key don't work.

Ctrl+Click in a bookmark of a folder of bookmark bar isn´t working
the shortcut to open in a new tab Ctrl+Click is not working in a bookmark of a folder of bookmark bar.
attention: the shortcut is working well in a bookmark of bookmark bar, I'm speaking about the folder of bookmarks put in the bookmark bar.
See below the screenshot about the shortcut that is not working in bookmark bar.
.
I expect to happen: Ctrl+Click opens bookmark of a folder in bookmark bar in new tab
actually happend: it opens bookmark in the same tab
win 7 32 bits / vivaldi 32 bits -
Still having trouble with most every mouse gesture (x64), as far as I can see only back and forwards gestures work, no other is working. Worked in TP2, stopped working in Easter Snapshot.

To enter a hotkey combo you want to use, you simply press the combo keys together ( you don't type it out with the "plus" sign) and text representing the combo appears in the textbox.

No matter what key he press (+, ctrl, 5, or all…) whenn customizing shortcuts we should be able to set all keys as shortcuts even the "ctrl" plus "+" plus "5" (if pressed all). the PLUS (+) is a key as well and should work too. As well as 3 keys shortcuts.

Geez - these servers are going down like every five minutes right now.
Not sure we really disagree. The way the dialog HAS worked (until it now seems broken in this version and doesn't save any values, nearly as I can tell) has been that you simply press the key combo you want and text representing it appears in the text box and, until this version, was saved. If you tried to type it out linearly, hitting one key, then plus, then another key, it only saved one key at a time. I agree you SHOULD be able to fill in any valid key combo just by typing it into the box. Whatever it OUGHT to be, it's not working on my system at all right now. No edits to the hotkeys are saved.

x64 version - restoring closed tabs button does nothing
-
x64 version - still problems with random "locked" tabs
Site loads / [clicking / browsing…] / tab content is being "locked"_
Only way to get rid and continue was to close tab and reopen it… But now "restore" button is broken xD arghhhhh
-
x64 version - tab preview "baloons" are not refreshed after "tiling"
Generally there are still problems with thumbnail proportions / no refresh -
x64 version - Speed Dial => Bookmarks => hover tooltips ("hints") are not translated
"Bookmarks" page title is not translated too -
x64 version - "Menu bar" enabled => Menu doesn't close after opening it and clicking on website_

yes, I know. vivaldi is writing automatically the "+" when I type "Alt". I'm actually pressing the combo, not the text representing it. In fact it is actually impossible to type e.g. "Alt+5" in the textbox and get that representation:
- Typing "Alt" (the Alt key) puts "Alt+" in the text box (and deletes whatever it was before).
- Typing "+" puts "+" in the text box (and deletes "Alt+").
- Typing "5" puts "5" in the text box (and deletes "+").
this of course is the right behavior for a text field for keyboard shortcuts except for two things: I can't find a way to assign more than one combination to one command (although there are several by default, separated by commas) and I can't delete any combination assigned to a command. this has been this way from the very first version I think

Additionally I've noticed that some of the shortcuts don't work properly once you reset the shortcuts. In TP2 for example most of the shortcuts could be set to whatever you wanted and they worked fine, but once I upgraded to the Easter Snapshot it seemed like even if you set some function to use a new shortcut, it still functioned with the old one. Case in point, I set the "Exit" function to use Ctrl-Q and set "Quick Commands" to only use F2. Despite this if I pressed Ctrl-Q the Quick Commands menu came up and the program didn't exit. In the latest snapshot this seems to have been fixed, but now I can't set a shortcut to the Exit function any longer, it just goes blank after setting it, like shown before.

…and I can't delete any combination assigned to a command.
Several others (including DrGerry, duarte.framos, and I) have also reported this elsewhere, but I think buenchaval has made the clearest and most complete reports of the Shortcut Editor bugs in his posts in this thread. The animated w64_shortcuts.gif is terrific.
One additional problem I haven't seen mentioned is that the text fields are not wide enough to see the contents for most of the default shortcuts with more than one combination, and since it isn't possible to enter the text box and scroll to the right, it is guesswork what the second combination might be.
@buenchaval: what did you use to make that nifty animated w64_shortcuts.gif?
