Show the current page title in the browser windows's title
-
Why this would be useful: I'm using ManicTime for time tracking, and knowing the actual page titles later helps me determine what I actually did. Browsing random cat pictures, or doing something useful. Currently the main windows's title is just 'Vivaldi', other browsers set it to page title + browser name. Thanks

I think there are other people requesting this. I think it's necessary but just something the developers haven't gotten to yet.

In my 1.0.142.32 stand-alone installation, the main window title currently displays:
"Vivaldi.net - Vivaldi Forum - Topic: Show the current page title in the browser window's title (1/1)"If I change to view another tab, the window title changes to match the page title of the tab I'm viewing. I'm not sure what else you're looking for, or why you apparently aren't seeing the page title like I do.

well, you (Blackbird) probably misunderstood OP

Hmm. What I see is this:

(Please ignore the little blue/green CDJ drive activity indicator overlaying the image at upper left).

On my netbook, using WinXP, I have a noticeably different UI at the top than I get in Win7…
I get the window title exactly as requested, and the background is the same site-based colour as the tab. So Vivaldi actually looks nicer in XP than in Win7, in my opinion!
I believe it's related to the window title bar, which was removed with the Aero UI update of Vista (this isn't the only software which gains a title bar on my netbook). But it would be nice to get this option back in Vivaldi for Win7 if possible.

Yes, I think mossman is onto something re no Vivaldi Title Bar in Win7. Here are two screenshots (with and without Menu Bar) of my v1.0.142.32 standalone on 32-bit Win7 with Basic Window Color (i.e., without Aero):

I finally got around to installing both 32-bit and 64-bit Vivaldi standalone on my 64-bit Win7 just to check this out, and with Aero enabled, they both look the same as above.
Edit: For several years I have been meaning to try out Classic Shell, but have just never gotten around to it. Does anyone who has tried it (or similar alternatives for Win7/Win8) know if it has an option to "restore" the Title Bar in a situation such as this one with Vivaldi?

When I'm home I will try to remember to post screenshots of this forum in Vivaldi on my desktop and netbook to illustrate the differences… I also moved the tab bar and address bar around a bit for better layout on the netbook, due to its small screen and because the title bar is available.
The title actually appears next to the menu, so even if it's "a Windows thing", it doesn't exactly follow the pre-Aero convention either (where the window title would be above the menu).
Edit: forgot to say... gdveggie, that's exactly how the UI looks with/without menu in normal Win7 - there's no title showing next to your menu in the first image, and the top area is white and not red - which is what I do get in XP!

Yes, a screenshot would be helpful. I took this quote from your earlier comment to mean that on WinXP the Title Bar is red if the tab is red. (is that correct?)
…But I also vaguely wondered, and now wonder more consciously, does that mean the Title Bar changes color when you switch to a tab of a different color?

By "normal Win7", do you mean with Aero? If so, see my remark immediately below the 2 images I posted. I was trying to make it clear that it looks the same with or without Aero (which surprised me a bit), and on both 32-bit and 64-bit (which I figure is to be expected). I was also trying to make it clear that I didn't mean Win7 Basic (the OS) but Win7 with Basic Color (as opposed to Aero); i.e., my 32-bit machine is Win7 Pro with Basic Color theme and my 64-bit machine is Win7 Home Premium with Aero theme.

In Preferences change the tabs placement to any other than top. Boom, the title bar will show up regardless which OS.
But it's just Vivaldi UI rendering it, the "real" page title is just Vivaldi as you can see on the taskbar and/or Task Manager.

Thanks!
I like my tabs in the "traditional" location at top, but that would seem to indicate Vivaldi could easily be coded to include an option to display that Vivaldi UI rendering even with tabs at top.
