single click not recognized

  • Over a couple of past weeks, single click randomly stops working. Reloading the page or activating another tab and coming back sometimes restores single click. It's hugely frustrating.

Another problem, which may or may not be related, is that sometimes the whole Vivaldi window becomes unresponsive. Everything looks normal except clicks on anywhere are ignored. In such a case, I look at macOS's Activity Monitor but I don't see any high-CPU activities. Such a state lasts, say, 10 seconds (?).

Both these happen on a Mac Mini and a MacBook Air, both running High Sierra. I use always the latest Vivaldi snapshot.

Does this happen to somebody else?

  • Hey @ryofurue they sorted this out in Today's update if you didn't get notified do a manual Check For Updates.

Thanks! It's too early to say whether most of the problems are fixed or not, but I've just noticed that the malfunctioning of single click still exists on gmail and Google Sheets.

This may be a separate problem. On gmail, single clicks are still occasionally ignored. On Google Sheets, a single click sometimes starts the process of selection: a light-blue area spreads following the mouse pointer. If this starts to happen, the single click or double click no longer works at all and you cannot stop the light-blue area from following the mouse pointer---These two problems could be in Google's code. Super annoying all the same.

I think both problems started recently.

  • @ryofurue You're not wrong at all. The problem still exists, a Vivaldi team member on Twitter confirmed they are still working on it so hopefully 3rd time the charm. If your Right-Click hangs open your Speed Dial tab right click on a thumbnail there then go back to the page right click was hanging and it should work fine.

Thanks for the information! It's good to know it's being worked on.

I cam here just to mention that a very similar problem to Google Sheets has just happened on a totally different, non-Google page: I just clicked on something, which somehow started text selection with a light-blue area following the mouse pointer.
